Geforce GTX1180/2080 Speculation thread

Well if we really go down the speculation route, which I suppose, that is what this thread is for.

GTX 2080 with RTX technology 8GB GDDR6, Faster than a Titan V Price $649
GTX 2070 with RTX technology 8GB GDDR6, performance between a Titan Xp and Titan V Price $499
GTX 2060 without RTX technology 6GB performance between a 1080 and 1080ti Price $350

AMD a year a way and then only matching the 2060 with the 7nm Navi or Vega refresh.

Not a good looking picture from the competition stand point.

It's not going to happen like that, because I really don't trust that latest rumour from the place we all love WCCFtech. :p;)

AMD are competing just fine, so unless Nvidia offer a massive performance jump and/or price a drop, that's not going to change the situation to the point a price adjustment couldn't fix.

Gibbo has just said they are selling vega at a loss. I'm not sure how they are competing just fine.......

Question for you, then.

How many years should it be before 1080 perf should be <£300?

Should this never happen? Should that performance always cost at lease £300, forever and ever, amen?

The current way things work is not how they used to work. You used to get more performance each gen even if you paid the same amount you paid last gen.

How things work in 2018, is that if you want an upgrade, you have to move up a price tier each gen.

So kind of like an upside-down race to the bottom? :p

The problem is the Nvidia have upped prices one tier, and dropped products down one. What happens if you hit the top tier?

They are selling under the MSRP, we don't really know if they are selling at a loss, only AMD knows this. I doubt AMD is actually making a loss in making and selling the board, but they are probably not recouping the cost from R&D which is probably being done by their Radeon Pro segment.

From the ir Q2 figures for the Graphics division:

Operating income was $117 million, compared to operating income of $7 million a year ago and operating income of $138 million in the prior quarter. The year-over-year operating income improvement was primarily driven by higher revenue. The quarter-over-quarter operating income decline was primarily due to lower revenue and higher operating expenses.

Many board partners arent though. But they buy the GPUs from Nvidia in $USD and therefore to minimise risk sell their final cards in USD. It then directly ties in with the price they have paid to Nvidia and also the $ is seen as a stable currency for a global commodity, it's standard practice.
That too I suppose :)

Wow. I don't think delusional even covers this statement.
You have got to be the only person in this forum that believes this lol

Unfortunately not, you should know by now, your not allowed to comment against AMD, or use a rolleyes smilie, because you will get shot down hard.

After reading about the '64 and seeing the special offer here it got me tempted.... However what I am finding just does not tally with what some here are saying. What am I missing (I don't have freesync and I am not getting a TV capable of it either)

Hotter, uses more power. More expensive. Slower at stock and overclocked over an average of 27 games.

Feel sorry for AMD. Just imagine what is going to happen to them when the 2070 comes out soon. It will probably be similarly priced and obliterate a Vega 64. All the while running at around half the power would be my guess. Tough times for AMD indeed.

Lower your voice, the red army will be here soon enough.

Fixed that for you.;)
