That depends on how many lines you are drawing products from. It cost the same or more to take full size chips and cut them back to produce lesser products.

Lol, no. A 1080 is 75% faster than a 1060. That won't be happening.
From the other (Adored) rumour, 1060 per + 27% is less than a 1070.

Not surprised one bit. I have mentioned a few times that the Ti might be coming out a lot quicker this time due to 7nm not being that far away. Some just did not want to have it. Not saying for sure it will, but it makes sense if it does...
It could easily be. The GTX10 cards are almost 3 cycles behind.
You guys are giving too much importance to the lack of competition.
Nvidia doesn't just compete with AMD, they compete with their own products.
I'm sure most people stay loyal to a brand, the people they'll sell 2070/80s to are those who have Maxwell and Pascal, so the fact that "there's no competition" doesn't apply.

rewind to Jan and there was AMD cards penned Q4.. no idea what etc and Nvidia was July ... saw what happened to Intel holding out and catching up. Nvidia will just go in hard and then can counter quicker then Intel did if needs be
i can could 3 owners of 980ti SLi rigs in my office awaiting the 1080ti because one card isnt touched 60% off the time and held out when 1080ti came

DX12 and vulcan are sparse. Devs dont want to spend the extra time on it. DX11 aint going anywhere anytime soon. So yes, a 2060 at 1080 performance would be a nail in radeons coffin.
It's almost three generation worth of gains that are due. 25% performance gain is per year~ wouldn't be much to expect.

It's not three generations of anything since Pascal. We had a new compute-focused spin-off architecture and then we've got one new gaming architecture.
Even if you count Volta where is the 3rd generation since Pascal? What is it even called, pray tell?
Nvidia have sat on these cards for almost three generations worth of time. 25% gain per generation would be considered very disappointing. Understand now?
