Geforce GTX1180/2080 Speculation thread

Hmmm, don't agree with you there. There are plenty of people in multitudes of threads openly stating they'll pay over the odds for the ti.

Good luck to them, even if it does have the potential to screw everyone else over by inflating prices but prices will be inflated regardless.

Actually thats not true.
Someone getting into PC gaming for the first time is quite likely to buy second hand cards. If they buy Nvidia and like it. Nvidia potentially have a new customer for life. It IS important to them.
WTF are you smoking? Manufacturers HATE second hand markets that is why for decades they have tried to have them shut down - Nvidia is no different. Plus someone who buys an older gen card second hand is likely to not have a good experience with the current games so are more likely to try AMD as a comparison (also second hand or potentially new because of the significant difference in price). You need to put down the pipe and take a walk in the sunshine.

if 2080 is only 8% faster than 1080TI, i cant see 1080TI dropping much in price, maybe around £370-£400.

I never mentioned anything about the 1080Ti in my post. lol.

True, it is all up in the air atm (and could have been a nvidia plant anyhow, so when they announce $850ish then everyone says it isn't really too bad! lol)

Yeah. Could easily be that.

This gif always makes me chuckle :D

We watched that movie last night :D

Quite aggressive response no? Steady on it's a Sunday morning! :)

He’s clearly not got access to the MM market :D
Neither do 99.999999999999999999999% of the GPU buying public. MM prices are not indicative of the "real world" - it is a self sustaining bubble available to a very tiny percentage of global GPU buyers - using it as a price benchmark is just statistical idiocy.

Jesus

Take a pill , ignored.

6* the performance .. of what exactly?
Ray tracing specific workloads.

Since there isn't a thread for xx70 and xx60 speculation yet, I'm just going to lament right here, that all the rumours point to a 2060 which is considerably slower (3k less in Firestrike) than the 1070 even :(

I’m ready with the cash but I’m going to hold off selling my 1080Ti for now as I don’t fancy being without a rig for weeks and I reckon the 1080 will still fetch good money due to people not quite wanting to spend 700-800 quid.

Is it just the announcements tomorrow or will stock be available from Tuesday?

Honestly if 2080 is only 8% faster I would recommend those wanting to buy one to get a second hand 1080TI for £350-£400 they will drop to that price range. 2080TI i would only buy if its good 35-40% faster otherwise its not worth the money to pay for something with <30% performance increase.

thinking of just missing this round completely tbh, my 1080TI is doing everything just fine. We are going to see a faster upgrade cycle from NVIDA this time as AMD 7nm could force them to update the cards. Its unlikely AMD will release 7nm cards with performance worse than what would be on the market at the time.

I say all of this and come monday I am so tempted i end up with 2080TI:p

Ok, you hate Nvidia lol
I hate Nvidia yet I have stated in this thread that I will be buying 2x 2080Ti FE as soon as they are released, and my wife is currently running a 980Ti and 550Ti in her Twitch rig... yup sounds like I hate Nvidia...

Oh and I refuse to use my Windows rig because it has my wife's old R9-390X in it and instead choose to use my MacBook Pro in clamshell mode for everything I do for the last 8 months waiting for Nvidia to release their 2080Ti so I can get back to PC gaming again...

But yeah I hate Nvidia...

I thought the general consensus was that prices aren't going to drop at all, but go up slightly? Gibbo has certainly said as much.

I know it means second hand should be cheap(er) but that isn't an option for everyone.
To be fair to Gibbo, his opinion is in his benefit based on the fact that he still has previous gen cards to flog.

Sort of like Jensen from NVIDIA saying that "we won't get new cards for a long time" a few months ago, when he knew well that the new cards were merely a quarter of a year away. They are just protecting their current interests businesses wise.

False, there wont be no more TVs that will include Display Port, none of new TVs has Display Port.

Some Samsung models has Freesync 2 but these models did not have Display Port, only HDMI 2.0.

Few years ago Panasonic 2015 models had Display Port 1.2 but they are not popular then Panasonic abandoned Display Port probably a year later, none of 2018 Panasonic models has Display Port.

If you want Display Port then get a monitor!

Some monitors in US have DP and FreeSync 2 and of course the nVidia BFG displays will have it too. Just because one manufacturer dropped support, doesn’t mean times don’t or wont change!
