Geforce GTX1180/2080 Speculation thread

Guys if we buy at near a grand, or over a grand for a 2080 Ti, you know the prices will be even worse next time..

Who will actually fork out near or over a grand for a 1080 Ti replacement?

If you have the money to spare, and PC gaming is your passion I do get it. No judgement here, just wandering who will pony up that sort of cash for a Ti replacement.

My wallet taps out at over £600. Looking like a 2060 for me xD Just cannot justify over £600 for a Ti *Morally*Financially*Ethically xD

Each to their own though.

I'd fork out a few grand on a high end laptop before I will spend more than 750 on a gpu. Too much for one component, matter of principle.

I'm with you. If we pay then we support it.

£650 is my limit. And depending on what that gets me in the pecking order I may start enjoying secondhand cards.

Same. I paid a bit over £600 for my 1080ti brand new with Destiny 2 (not that I've ever played it!).

I can't justify paying more than that.

Especially as the cards don't have the latest connectivity.

1080ti was $699 for the fanboy edition. A 1-1 $ to £ which is generally what we see and even £899 is a massive increase for the same series. But to go £1000+, that'd be insanity and approaching a 50% increase!

Sadly consumers have shown them that they can get away with it. Vote with your wallets people. Stick to Pascal & Vega.

As they are releasing the 2080ti at the same time as the 2080, it's unlikely it's 7nm. The only reason I can think they are doing that is that the 2080 is roughly the performance as the 1080ti. (or the 2080ti is a GT104 chip and we'll see the a 2080 Ultra in 6 months using the GT102).

I'm not expecting massive performance increases, I think all this RTX (Ray Tracing) news is more about making people think it's the next best thing that they must have so they're ready to go more than anything else.

If these prices are legit, it tells us loud and clear where we stand. Roughly €1500 euro for a single component. I could literally buy all current gen consoles with games for that. At least then I wouldn't have to worry about 50% of the titles launching in beta, with quality assurance lower on the priority list then the toilet cleaners annual leave gripes. Face it we all willfully buy into the vicious cycle. We all have our little ways to justify it. But unless this card is a mythical unicorn with triple the standard generational performance increase, I'm done.

Anyone got a reasonably priced 1080ti? :)

Not sure the AIB resellers will be overly happy either if the two fan FE card is real. Would seem daft paying even more money for some other custom jobbies?
I tend not to moan about pricing but actually reckon the biggest mickey takers are the creators of the aftermarket cooled cards. Weren't some of the 1080 Ti's upwards of a grand recently?

Same, hunted for ages getting a 1080ti under £650, when the mining boom made most of them £1000. Refused to pay it.

This 100%.

They really don't need anymore encouragement. Keep your Pascal series card and if you really need to dial down the settings a bit and/or flash your card with a nicer bios :D

Two fingers to Nvidia all the way xD

You obviously haven't played PUBG on Xbox 1 lol :D

They wont sell at those prices. Not over here any way.

I thought Blighty was meant to be going through austerity, people being squeezed financially from all directions.

The UK simple wont pay those prices in quantities that makes it sustainable.

Unless propped up by miners.
