Geforce GTX1180/2080 Speculation thread

People can be so short sighted.
If this price rise percentage was to continue next generation it'd put the 2070 successor at 700 pound.

But I guess we'd just be complaining?

People moaning at prices and not buying at new prices..... It's called not bending over and letting nvidia/retailers go in dry :o

That's the problem these days, people have no will power nor principles.

Why? I've put my order in! Certainly better spent on a RTX than an Aston :p. No honestly I've driven the DB9 and a couple of the V12s for a fortnight, and they're great for a tourer but as a drivers car they're dull as dish water

That’s why I own two hot hatches also, best of all worlds.

I’d be very interested to hear your thorough review of the DB9 though and how you came about to be in one for a fortnight (genuinely)

Should have tried harder at school? I don't think i could have achieved any higher across school uni and career as Im at the top in a very lucrative line of work. But prices spiralling out of control is still something that I find unacceptable to myself. It was a hobby that £400 got you graphics at the top tier. Now it no longer is. It's 3x more. My graphics card cost more than a console alone, now it could buy them all.

It was pocket change for me, well not anymore perhaps. But I look at that £1000 and wonder what else I could do with it that is more meaningful to me. As most people are now thinking the same.

It's a different expectation that is the niggle. Just because I can still afford, doesn't mean I should be content.

Well said :).

Honestly I look at the price of that RTX 2080Ti and think of the other hobbies I have and think wow that could be a new snake(s) and setups or a cool new synthesizer to add to my music hobby too.. these things I have for 20+ years when I get them.. Not a year or 2 and then again we start with a new GPU at an even more stupid price.

I spent recently over £6k on updating my music setup (Workstation keyboard, monitors, mixers etc), do I feel bad or I got ripped off .. No because these things will be with me for another 20 years as was my previous setup I only recently updated and I updated not because anything failed but because the technology had moved enough to justify it and I knew they would be with me at least 10 years till next upgrade if not longer as before it was over 20 years.. so £6k / 20 = £300 a year for something I really enjoy and also the upgrade was paid for out of my stop smoking fund... a way to encourage me to keep not smoking :).

Now gaming I enjoy but be real the games are getting more and more expensive and all the hardware related to them.. Do the real maths if you want to stay with top end gaming and it is shocking now. It's gaming not some life saving thing we need. Also the thing that upsets me the most is the Greed of these companies..

Oh the glorious unresponsive blurry mess 30fps! Literally unbearable for most pc players. The only reason playstation is still a thing is exclusives. Thanks MS for bringing xbox games to pc, so we don't have to suffer xbox1x as well.
The PS4 Pro is far from unbearable for me. Actually it's been pretty damn awesome. And I only paid £200 for it, all in, with two gamepads and 3 games. New price.

The PS5 will be a decent jump in performance, with Zen+Navi inside. At 1080p it'll be 60FPS solid.

Those of us baulking at £800 for a GPU are probably mostly on 1080p btw, so missing 4K@144Hz isn't a deal-breaker.

Also I've been a PC gamer since 1991. The idea that PC gamers would be unable to deal with any game running below 60FPS is just lol-worthy. Sounds more like a technophile than a gamer.

We'll all be playing console games, regardless. You'll play console games on a £3k PC; I'll play console games on a PS5 :p

By School I meant "work hard", clearly your in a position from working hard that buying an Aston is the same as some people treating themselves to a Focus, it's all in relation, you've already said money isn't a problem your waiting for performance, well the price is a problem to some people cause they can't afford it, if they could they would buy Aston's as well (if it was their thing). If they had what you have do you think they would moan about the price like your not?

The world doesn't really work like that. Just because people can spank money without a second thought doesn't mean they have a mindset to do that or have completely given up on value for money.

Most i ever spent on a gpu was my titan, was a spur of the moment thing and while its a great card and has lasted me just over 2 years so far it's the type of money i wouldn't spend on a card again. The pricing now is just ridiculous, and all to get a few more fps in a game.

Amen, now onto the benchmarks.

Do we really have another two weeks or more wait to see how this bloody thing performs

Will power and principles in this case only hurt yourself. There's nothing virtuous about not buying something. Nvidia doesn't care, nobody cares.

Unless somehow you convince everyone to avoid buying it.

So once again, talking about reality, whether you guys buy it or not, it will not change the course of history.

I got my pre-order in just so I get my card before the gaming season starts. If it doesn't kill my Xp @2g I'll refund, if it does then I'll get mine on the 13th before the hype starts and all of a sudden the price isn't that bad and it's out of stock everywhere. I seem to remember the 8700k went the same way.

People moaning about the price should have worked harder at school, I don't cry I can't afford a Lambo, I except I wasn't born into it and my Job isn't up to scratch, there's plenty of other cars to enjoy, motoring isn't going down the pan and neither is PC gaming - what a load of old bum hurt ****.
Don't be so obnoxious. I could buy 10 tomorrow and it not harm my finances. That doesn't mean I don't get to think the price is ridiculous. I also didn't even complete school.

Hire company 3 or 4 years ago. lol my thorough review is there are any number of better cars to buy! Anyway, digression much.

The topic is other things to ***** money on lol.

Cause it does, he has a Aston on the bottom of every post he makes, bet Tom didn't give it much thought when it bought it, worth it in his threads alone so every-one can see it. If you have the money your'd buy anything you fancy.

Exactly :) Value for money and also respect for yourself.. Sorry I have some expensive hobbies but not one makes me feel like I have been ripped off like GPU pricing and PC hardware has in recent years (Computers were my first love BTW, I'm 45 years old and love computer tech but in last few years sadly started to fall out of love with it, because of the companies running the industry).
