Geforce GTX1180/2080 Speculation thread

Another thought - £1k plus for a card with only 2 years warranty? Madness.
At the same time, most of those upgrading will be enthusiasts and are likely to upgrade in a few years anyway. That's how long my GTX 970 lasted, to be replaced with a GTX 1080 and now—likely—with a RTX 2080 Ti. I can get a decent price for my current graphics card, which helps offset the cost.

Still, it's NOT cheap and I will be waiting for the reviews to see if the performance warrants the price. I'm not interested in the raytracing technology, as frankly it doesn't look very good and it absolutely will tank performance. It doesn't seem a great indication that pre-orders went up before reviews were released and performance has gone largely unmentioned in the information we've seen so far, aside from absurd claims of six times the performance.

Well high end GPUs have almost trebled so...

I may have exaggerated slightly to make a point but it still doesn't change the fact that Nvidia are shafting gamers by pushing the realms of decency on pricing to the point of killing off PC gaming

I'm dreading the "mainstream" GPU prices for the 2060/2050 lol.

£400+ for a 2060 anybody?

or £250+ for a 2050? :D

Probably. I'd guess £360 for the 2060, and around £230 for the 2050. £150 might get you a 2040, if you're lucky :p

Get 1070 performance from a 2060, for the same price as a 1070 was! lol this is progress folks!

I think in terms of performance we will see very little/if any gain in FPS but things will look nicer (if supported).

The entire thing was about shadows and he kept far away from performance. I think he was hiding more than letting on and using benchmarks that no one understands.

I am very, very curious to see some benchmarks as everyone else. From a technical point of a view the clock speed and cuda core count doesn't look to excel beyond last generation. The only one that does is the 2080 ti. The only real difference I can see between last gen and new gen is the memory being faster which does help with gaming FPS usually. To be quite honest I am afraid that the only real performance difference we will see is improved wattage and the ability to reflect lights without extreme post processing.

It'll be interesting how reviewers have been "briefed" on how to review these cards if there isn't much difference in none Ray traced games....

Dem prices...
