Geforce GTX1180/2080 Speculation thread

Or you could wait and see reviews before spending £1k+ on a graphics card?
Well since mine won't arrive until October I have plenty of time to see reviews and cancel the order if needed. Shipping dates have already slipped almost a full month here in Sweden so not really interested in waiting and having that shipping date slip even further due to supply issues.

You literally haven't seen any benchmarks? Why would you order now? Especially as nvidia refused to show performance in their keynote. Madness.

they are poweful . pretty sure asus and aorus will be running cards for gamers at Gamescon Tomorrow - dont think any Turing cards will be playing games today, but just on show.

Hah! I just watched and saw that, and switched off straight away afterwards in disgust, thinking to myself that he is a massive shill (I'm not exaggerating, it is literally what happened).
I unsubscribe to him years ago. He literally adds nothing to the industry. I don't know why he has so many subscribers. He does nothing innovative or even informative. Him and bitwit. I just don't know what they offer. At least gamers nexus, adored TV and hell, even linus offer us something interesting.

The thing about ordering on the internet here is that you can just cancel your pre-order before it ships and get a refund if the benchmarks aren't good/what you want it to be.

How do you know?? They might be OK at basic Ray tracing. They might be awful at tessellation and rasterization.

Just told my wife - she asked the price...wasn't pleased (her Gucci bag cost less than a single card...) although I think I got lucky because I think she understood it as total price not price per card ;)

Well I mean yeah that's true. But your pre-order just tells nvidia you are delighted with their pricing and would buy anything they release.

Watching Linus makes me what to fly to whatever North American country he's in and stab him. The man is fingernails on a blackboard to me. My murderous feelings have only amplified since I've seen on thumbnails that he has some blonde lady with him and it's such a cynical move to grab the 'nerds'.

I'm sure there are channels you subscribe to that make people wonder why. All about perspective and opinion. I actually enjoy his videos.

He keeps going on about the risk - it is ZERO risk for anyone in the EU because we have Distance Selling Regulations - so we can legally return the card if it does not perform as expected within 14 days of receiving it.

And your expectations are???? We do not know what are the expected performance of this brand new core.
Steve at Hardware Unboxed at his video said something like 50% drop with ray tracing on.
That should be the expected performance......

He doesn't know **** - he is making a guess (there were no FPS shots visible in the demo he is referring to). My expectations are to be able to game well at 4k and be able to do so for the foreseeable future. I have confidence that the 2080 Ti will be significantly better performance over the 1080 Ti for 4k gaming - that is what I was waiting for that is what I believe I will get. Having access to new Raytracing techniques is just a nice bonus.

He is annoying. That's a given. But I still respect how he has built his business.

I have some magic beans for sale.

One random thought - will this 20xx price rise have a potential impact on future mobile GPU prices? Just that with the possibility of the 2060/2050 shooting up in price, will this just be consumer component prices, and the likes of MSI, ASUS etc. will still be able to purchase chips at lower prices for their laptops?

Most of these 'gamer' laptops around the £700 to £1,000+ mark run a combination of an Intel i5/i7 and Nvidia 1050/1060 setup.

The xx80 range the only one that I feel is remotely close to where it usually is on the pricing front which is why I pre-ordered. That one is "ok" for me. If performance comes out anywhere near an xx80 should over the previous generations xx80ti then I'll keep my pre-order. If not I will happily cancel. I am guessing there's a lot of people in the same boat. I only pre-ordered asap as for Pascal there was a massive backlog on release. I know that scenario was always doubtful on this release but didn't want to take that chance.

same way i posted on here i9 9900k naming scheme a month before websites had the leak, along with mentioning z370 wasn't actual coffeelake chipset but b360/h310 (before launch). mention of AMD Z490 before sites even know will be etc etc ;)

Cant justify the price and low pound doesn't help . and its peoples fews on speed over visuals. Personally hate nvidia for their latest practice - statted to cross the line at removing Titan from resellers

Jayztwocents made a video where he used the phrase "doesn't seem like nvidia disappointed".

He is such a shill for nvidia. He does my head in. Big man baby with the body of an 80 year old fat woman.

Seems he is still upset that AMD didn't sent him a Threadripper 2.

Looking like 20% better, and what about the 1080ti that performs the same as the Xp that is 80% cheaper.

I am not going to pretend that the Turing cards are value for money, they are not but the point I am making is there are plenty of us who have spent the same money on a Pascal Titan and ended up with even less performance.

I don't know why anyone watches any of these YT guys. It's literally 30s intro graphic, followed by overly-long, drawn-out over-simplified drawl about something, then 30s closing graphic :p

You could save so much time by just reading text articles. As a bonus you don't have to deal with strange accents :p :p

But what about when they release another Titan in 6 months time and Titan Jr :p at a similar price and a decent step above the 1080Ti.

Seems nothing but a milking session to me.
