Its the waiting for AMD votes that amuse me, by the time they release something new we will probably have a thread for the 4080.

Just read that AMD are releasing their 7nm cards before the end of year, no idea what they are or how they'll perform but it may not be "that long" before they have something much better than their current line up available.

Had a bit of an unexpected windfall so I think I'm going to get a 2080Ti. Gonna wait for benchies though and see what's what...

Horrible people are always lucky :p what are you going to get - and steer that wind my way will you?

There is no proof that was a 2080. Some are thinking it could be a 2070? Guess will know soon enough.

It better be that, would make much more sense too.

Like AMD can even compete in the extreme segment ;) good things do not always come to those who wait. They've been waiting since before Polaris so what's an extra two decades eh?

Well I will believe that when I see it. I suspect if there was any danger of that happening we wouldn't be seeing such experimental cards from Nvidia. They'd be bringing out something to absolutely bury the AMD cards with performance like the 1080ti launch before Vega.

And even if they do bring something new out they'll still price it in line with whatever Nvida is selling on price/performance.

My 1080Ti is doing fine with my Vive.

I'll re-evaluate this when the next generation of VR headsets is released. But then that will probably be a complete system rebuild.

At the moment, the 1080Ti is fine for me, and the need to upgrade is driven by VR rather than a graphics card 'itch'.

I wish I had a 1080 Ti :p that would put me in a much better position...

1080ti?

My gut tells me the 2080 will the shortest gpu in history . The Ti coming at the same time speaks volumes

That dubious honour goes to the ATI x1800 series, they got delayed by months due to a glitch on the chip, by the time they came out the x1900 series was released about 2 months behind them.

I think if you have the money, are a true Pc Gamer, have supported Nvidia all these years, then its your duty to buy this card. Those of us still on the fence need to see just what the fuss is about. Interesting that VR and Mining barely gets a mention anywhere?.

I have a noticeably smoother experience in vr than 4k 2d. There are no vr games where i have to turn down graphics settings for a smooth experience. However, in 4k 2d there are a good few where i have to turn down settings at 4k for a smooth gameplay experience.
I guess this is because its been a while between headsets. When the next gen of headsets hit, im sure there will be plenty who will uograde their 9 and 10 series cards.
