So Eminem dropped this album out of nowhere the other night. Anyone heard it?

Say what you like about his last effort which admittedly was slightly disappointing, but he goes hard as hell on this one. Dissing everyone left, right and centre. Definitely one of his best in years.

Yeah I have been listening and its great, not quite his old level, but certainly the closest it has been for years. His last album was absolutely awful, the only album of his I haven't bought and never will. He even admits it was poor in one of the tracks.

Incredible surprise album, had it on repeat all weekend. We wanted Shady, we got it and its fire.

Revival was a weak album compared to his previous work, but still had a few really good tracks, IE...Offended, Believe, Framed, Castle, Arose.

hes a great lyricist but doesnt do anything for me. collected rap hiphop since 87. as for the people he dissed all people who he knows wont have anything to comeback with or...arnt nothing special. if it would have been hiphop giants or people who are as good as him or better then that would have been amazing. could have finally made usa hiphop worth listening to again.

most his listeners dont even know the album cover is basically a beastie boys album cover.

Who would you love to see Eminem go after? :)

Doom , Rakim KRS some people that could basically match or better him. the ones he chose are easy for him. american hiphop is boring has been for a few years now.thats why everyones been on uk stuff for a few years.also why americans been getting on our stuff.

Slim Shady LP and Marshal Mathers LP are his best work, coupled with anything he did with/for Dre. Downhill from there.

Newer stuff just doesn't flow as well or have as good a musical sound. Has the odd decent track later but nothing tops those two Albums.

I used to love Eminem and I do respect him but his new stuff always sounds like ‘math rap’ to me... sort of, this demo of technique and these extremely elaborate plays on words (sometimes multiple times in a sentence). It’s really impressive and skilful but his newer releases just lack bona fide ‘tunes’ - a big pop chorus to sing along to. The subject matter is more serious which can be a bit overbearing. Also, I genuinely can’t remember the backing tunes to any track on his new album.

I really think “I’m back” from MMLP was the absolute pinnacle of all things Eminem (or if not the pinnacle, a demo of all things great). Toying between brutally mean, silly, frightening, funny and topped off with a great beat and a memorable chorus. Criminal is another great one :D

Edit - yeah, Criminal for the win!

Haven't listen to it but he lost it when his raps weren't amusing anymore. That whole trip about being sad all the time and screaming his lyrics like he wants to kill you.
The real slim shady is genius in its delivery and funny too,but after d12 and no more Dre, it was all downhill.

I'll give this a listen but won't expect much.

I've listen to one song so far. It sounds fake. I don't doubt he could go all busts rhymns if he wanted to but this just sounds like they sped it up and put a fake echo / wobble on it. Weird.

Old Eminem spark - check Banging Production - check Lyrically murdering beats - check Taking aim at other rappers - check
Yup, Slim Shady is back
The album cover looks similar to the Beastie Boys' "Licensed to Ill".

The bold bit is indeed the issue for me. The musical element is not there.

Had one listen and it's not bad. I think at his age and with his proven success its quite hard to keep that fire going.

Undeniable talent though.

I actually quite like this... does make Eminem look like a sour puss.
They have a bit of history. Em flipped because MGK apparently hit on his daughter or rapped about her so Em banned him from his station Shade 45. MGK has been bitter ever since.
