Aspiring chef with dwarfism offered job by Gordon Ramsey

I think Gordon Ramsay is more than qualified to know if a dwarf can work in a kitchen or not.

Christ this forum has some real bitter people. A dwarf getting a job?! HOW DARE HE!

Well he s said he doesn't want to go to the college now and that he wants to b3 an actor

Cobblers.

Gordon Ramsey is very qualified to know what to say to get publicity. Where's the job? Where is the evidence that Gordon Ramsey gave a second's thought to actually doing it?

Nobody here has been bitter or written anything like "A dwarf getting a job?! HOW DARE HE!". You made that up. Presumably because you couldn't counter anything anyone had written.

Bob on, like I said above, Public Liability incoming.
if Gordon Ramsey can't see the Health & Safety issues around this he should be made to pay a vast amount out and converting a kitchen for one person is not viable.

Yes.. apart from the speculation about how he'll not fit into a kitchen because the equipment isn't the right size, or jokes about how he'll get a pot of boiling water tipped onto him etc. you're completely right.

Cobblers indeed

I've torn knee ligaments in kitchens because of idiotic practices, I've also seen straight up accidents, like boiling water getting poured down the back of someone's leg so they couldn't even wear shoes for almost a month, or one chef ending up with 15 stitches after putting a brand new turning knife in her apron pocket and it slicing straight down her thigh when she bent down to pick something up, I've seen copper stock pans 4ft tall being dropped on a KP's foot, and countless burns, scalds, cuts and other related injuries. Kitchens are dangerous places at the best of times, This has nothing whatsoever to do with me being outraged at someone with dwarfism wanting to develop their passion.

A dwarf in a kitchen would very hazardous. He would have to have steps to reach up which could prove lethal. I can't imagine a dwarf in a normal kitchen. It would have to be modified to make it safe for him.

I'm a bit short on any ideas to make it work in all honesty.

Dwarves stack, don't they, so you just have to make sure that they get enrolled in twos.

You seem to have taken a great deal of offence.

If he gets the Job in the kitchen with Gordon his 6 other brothers will want employment there too!

There has always been a steady supply of roles for small people in acting.

Just have to get through the massive and legal discrimination against the untalented, untrained and genetically unblessed.

Yes, cobblers indeed. Nobody, absolutely nobody, has said what you claim people have said. You know that, which was why you didn't, haven't and can't quote anyone doing so. What you said was cobblers.

People have, in seriousness and with good reason, referred to the real and significant health risks for a very short person working in a commercial kitchen. That is nothing like saying "A dwarf getting a job?! HOW DARE HE!" There are many jobs for which being that height isn't a problem or is a problem that can be safely worked around. A commercial kitchen isn't one of them. There are numerous hazards and being a significantly different height to that which the equipment is designed for greatly increases the risks, especially being significantly shorter.

Incidentally, the target of the comment about the boiling water was Gordon Ramsey. But it's a serious point - working with pans of boiling water at head height that you can't easily reach is a serious risk. Cooking things happens quite often in a commercial kitchen.

**No Insults** No, nobody has said what I said verbatim, but there is plenty of questioning the safety of a dwarf working in a kitchen, and just like another poster has also questioned if those with doubts think that he should just stay at home on benefits, but, shocker, nobody said that, either!

So the only cobblers are the ones you're shovelling. Are you now going to point out nobody is literally shovelling?
