What film did you watch last night?

I mean the first film established what was a great setup for further stories. But that every time they go back they without fail decide to go back with weak equipment, untrained people and a plan that makes no sense and every single time ends up dismal failure is just... urrggh.

They are freaking dinosaurs, DINOSAURS ffs, this isn't the 20s, private military actually exists. You can get an attack boat loaded with cannons and crap to sit off the coast, you can bring turrets and explosive/anti armour weapons and set up a secure base that can actually kill big ass monsters if they attack and you can send out well trained guys with powerful weapons, tanks and anything else to go track down raptors or whatever. But it always ends up with some scientist and some kid being involved... and for some reason security or tracker types who have slow firing tranq guns, and cattle prods as if none of these guys have a clue what dinosaurs are, how big they are and how utterly stupid going up against them with that and a few guys with assault rifles. You can't sneak onto an island with dinosaurs, you go in hard, with guys with rocket launches, and tanks, and attack helicopters, etc.

There are loads of opportunities for films in which the dinosaurs get out, or they feel they have to go back in because monitoring shows they've started breeding and they fear they will get out, but instead every attempt is some ridiculous plan to go back in that's obviously going to fail with the worst people and equipment possible and every film is more irritating than the last.
but surely if they go in kitted out like you suggest then the film is over in 30mins.....hell why not just nuke the island and keep the film down to 5 mins (give or take depending on how long the launch countdown is):p

Incredibles 2 . 8/10

It's good fun, good style, decent story, hilarious in parts.

Rogue one is a decent film actually felt starwarsy

I mean, they escaped and got to the mainland and started breeding.... and they go in hard to take them out is a plenty long film and actually makes sense. The they are on an island but insanely dangerous so lets take a stun baton and my kid.... is just straight up absurd. That worked in the first film because in the first film nothing had gone wrong yet, and it was an actual theme park in which they believed (naively) that they could control them. The first of the newer films is dumb because it threw out every lesson they would have learned from the earlier films. Lets go bigger, make lots of flying dangerous dinos oh yeah, and lets make super dinos while also having crap security and then sending out people without real weapons against them. It was painfully stupid.

It was believable that Hammond in the first film was naive, there is no excuse for a single decision made in how the park was remade and handled from a security, science, layout or frankly any aspect and as such just made no sense.

Blackkklansman (see what I did there) 9/10

I loved it. Funny but with the obvious political message not rammed down your throat (too much). Excellent acting, every character was well portrayed, Adam Driver was especially good, which surprised me.
2h15m runtime but it was honestly enjoyable until the end. I think it could deserve an Oscar for best supporting for Driver. Id actualy like to see it get some noms, not just cos its "black actor spike lee omg equality" but cos it was really GOOD!

Smokey and the Bandit.

In honour of Burt Reynolds' passing. Still one of the best car chase movies ever made. And you can tell how much fun Burt was having making it.

11/10.

Star Wars - Rogue One

A bit late in the day, only I gave up on modern incarnation Star Wars movies a while a go. Don't get me wrong, I am a huge fan of the original trilogy!

I have got to say, I really enjoyed Rogue One and whilst I have yet to watch Solo or the Last Jedi (as I said I gave up on modern incarnations) as it stands; Rogue One is by far the best of the new breed of Star Wars films.

Only a few bits - mostly I think due to time/resource pressures in re-editing/re-shooting it when they decided to change the style of the movie a bit - let it down otherwise it is actually one of the better Star Wars movies and for the most part I enjoyed it.

No, because that’s how the film name is spelt?

Training Day - 6/10

Still can’t see what the fuss is about with this film. Denzel does his “Alright, alriiiight. My man, my maaaaan” acting that he always does.
Best part was Snoop Dogg.

The Nun - a knowingly goofy non-sensical in-your-face Hollywood horror. Utterly absurd but good fun :)

6.5/10
I was thinking of watching this, was it better then Annabelle or the last key, I was really disappointed with the last key so ive been having second thoughts.

Infinity Wars: 7.5/10

Really good fun turn brain off type of film. Was maybe a little too many characters so it all got a little muddy but great for what it is.
Did find Thanos quite a likeable chap and was sort of rooting for him at the end but hey ho!

It wasn’t better than either of the conjuring films. It was better than the first Annabelle film. It was not better than second Annabelle film.

It was very goofy and full on and in that sense it’s better than all of them for laughs.

You’ll probably enjoy it for the lulz, of which a few are very deliberate (as in, they know it’s a bit silly).

I think good guy Thanos might have a workable plan.
Tbh he’s an idiot - does he not know population growth is eventually exponential? :p how long again do you think the worlds population was ~3.5 billion? Short term thinking! :p

(I mean it’s obviously a little more complicated than that but, ya know)

The Thirteenth Floor - 7/10.

My lad and i watched The Matrix recently. so he was looking for something similar. Wife and daughter needed it explaining (!) but the lad loved it. Not bad for a 1999 movie.
