I'm tempted by the Note 9 now. £1099 512GB, with £620 trade in for my iPhone X 256GB plus an extra £200 for trade in. So the Note 9 would cost me £279. Not sure what I could sell my iPhone for but £620 seems decent considering what I've seen around.

Keep in mind how much the Note 9 will tank in resell value vs an iPhone. Apple always have strong residuals.

True, but I'm being offered £620 for a device I paid £1149 less than a year ago, not to mention the £199 Apple Care I took out.

I don't think I'd get much more than £700 for my X so it hasn't exactly done that well at holding its value.

But can the human eye really see any difference on such a small device?

The S9+ screen I used for a while was a fair jump up in sharpness over my 8plus... especially with video and pictures.

Watching a none zoomed in video on the R will be roughly around 720p, the Note would be a good improvement with the res alone, not even taking in the oled screen

I think all the older phones will keep their value for even longer now and by that I mean a large range of them - 7,8 and of course the X. Loads of people are baulking at the prices but want to stay on iOS so there will be a very healthy market in 2nd hand phones. That also makes me think about the new chipset in the XS. Sure it might be overkill now but it also means that it will last for a very long time and the XS/XR range will be in second hand markets for years to come.

I've ordered a 256 Max in Silver.

Almost tempted by the R but 720p in 2018...

Oh no, the 326ppi screen is absolute poverty... oh wait, no, it's not. The screen on my 6S is still more than adequate - things are very sharp, and I can read books on a small-ish font with absolutely no difficulty.

You'll notice it. My 2XL's display specs are 1440 x 2880 pixels, 18:9 ratio (~538 ppi density) so I hope I can stomach the reduced resolution on the Max whose specs are 1242 x 2688 pixels, 19.5:9 ratio (~458 ppi density).

Ordered an Xs 64GB in Silver, delivers next Friday.

Coming from an iPhone 7, should be a decent upgrade, and given I hardly used 20% of the 128gb storage, couldn't justify the 256gb model.
