The S9+ screen I used for a while was a fair jump up in sharpness over my 8plus... especially with video and pictures.

Watching a none zoomed in video on the R will be roughly around 720p, the Note would be a good improvement with the res alone, not even taking in the oled screen
I suppose it's horses for courses. As someone whose retired I've little if any use for watching videos on my phone. In addition I don't suppose my peepers are as good as they were a few decades ago. Heck, put like that almost any display would suit my needs. ;)

Ain’t far behind you on the age+eyes front :p:(

Is the pricing on Three a mistake? Their AYCE plans are less than the plans with a data cap and the same price as an 8GB data plan.

Just seems to cheap compared to everyone else. All prices are for the 64gb Max

Three:
Unlimited everything £57/month + £250 = £1618 LESS £65 on Quidco
Unlimited everything £64/month + £99 = £1635 LESS £65 on Quidco

Plans include more roaming than the competition and 30gb tethering. You can get contracts which include Airpods for an additional £6/month (£144, £159 value). The AYCE tariff is essentially £18 a month, seems reasonable.

Compared to EE/Voda/O2 who's prices are frankly a joke.....

EE:
30gb Data, £83/Month + £50 = £2042 Less £70 Quidco :eek::eek::eek::eek:

Voda:
8gb Data, £71/Month + £129 = £1833 less £70 Quidco (includes 24 month subscription to Spotify/Primve Video, Now TV or Sky Sports (£240 value)
24gb Data, £70/Month + £79 = £1759 less £70 Quidco
42gb Data, £77/Month + £79 = £1927 less £70 Quidco (includes 24 month subscription to Spotify/Primve Video, Now TV or Sky Sports (£240 value)

O2:
20Gb Data, £71.84 + £100 = £1824.16 Less £90 Quidco
50Gb Data, £75.84 + £100 = £1920.16 Less £90 Quidco
Staggers back and goes to lie down in a darkened room. I think I'll stick to buying a phone outright and pay my £5.00 per month SIM only.

Seriously these prices are more than my mortgage used to cost.

I forgot about the pre-order and wanted one of these for release day. Any likelyhood of me being able to walk in the shop and buy one without a pre-order?

well sorted my xs max 256GB with O2 business. So now it's time to wait. I skipped my usual 2 year upgrade cycle last year and my 6s although still perfectly fine for what I use seems to have the battery life of a wheezing old man at times.

I use a Holife one at work which i bought from Amazon. I think it was about £15 definitely not more than £20. I plugged it into an iPad charger and it works fast enough.

If anything I think it is essential at work. I hated having to tower over my phone to unlock it with FaceID so the charger angles it perfectly so I just tap the screen and it's unlocked.

Ah I never even thought about unlocking it! I was going to get the charging pad not stand but you've changed my mind now, great point!

Any app that supports Touch ID automatically supports Face ID.

In which case barclays will too as their standard banking app uses touchID. For some reason I think I had to enable it in the app settings recently while it was auto-enabled or at least asked me if I wanted to use it before.

Yeah the Barclays Bank app does, the Barclaycard app is still stuck without any form of biometric login.

2688x1242 for the XS Max (458ppi) and 1920x1080 on the Pixel 2 (441ppi) assuming P3 will have the same or better.

Resolution ont he normal Pixel far too low? Really?

Yes. There is absolutely no way I could move from 2880 x 1440 on my 2XL to 1920 x 1080 - that's a huge downgrade.

I'm tempted by the XS max, I currently have an iPhone SE.

Do you guys who have owned the Plus size phones think they are a good alternative to an iPad or any other tablet.

I'm thinking that maybe I could sell my current iPhone as well as my samsung tablet and just use the XS max. I only use my tablet to browse the internet.

A plus size phone is no substitute for a ipad (I've got both).

Yeah a phablet style phone is nice when out and about without carying my iPad Pro 10.5 but it will be by no means be a replacement

That's not the point. The point is that the dpi on the XS Max is almost identical to the Pixel 2, meaning how they look to you will be the same.

The 2 XL has a 538 dpi so even moving to the XS Max would be a big downgrade.

How close are you guys holding the phone to your faces? It's just a stat contest now. I moved from Pixel 2XL to 8 Plus to X and have not noticed any differences in everyday use at all

Dear god those prices on contracts  that’s just daylight ******* robbery tbh.

Right well my 6s battery barely lasts a few hrs let alone a day so either I get a replacement battery or get the new iPhone xs. No chance in hell am I going for a contract even with Vodafone. Only question is to go the Apple upgrade plan which is basically the phone over x amount of months with no interest so you only pay what the phone actually costs unlike networks doing daylight robbery.

Been on the Apple website but can’t see the option to buy it on the Apple upgrade program. I suppose you will have to wait till they actually got stock in stores to sell them on the upgrade plan?? Which judging by past events, could be a few weeks or mths at best.
