But no ones been alive for that many years
this makes no sense what so ever - thats not what the phrase means
But no ones been alive for that many years
Why haven’t they still not invented a toaster that evenly cooks a whole slice of regular sliced bread all over?, it’s 2018!
Because then we wouldn't be able to entertain everyone with our embarrassing, drunken rants. It's 2018, why can't we delete our own posts?
this makes no sense what so ever - thats not what the phrase means
Because figurative speech is a thing which exists. To draw examples to a pre-existing date is what historians, and most people, do. To give you an example, see every piece of recounted history ever. Then how does it make sense???
Then how does it make sense???
Then how does it make sense???
It's been explained by several people, but one more time. It's not one person claiming to be alive for 2018 years. It's an exclamation based on the progress of society/species as a whole and because of this progress "Why is this [one simple thing] still happening?"
Do you also have issues with the saying "in this day and age"? For example, I can't believe people can be so wilfully ignorant of simple sayings in this day and age.
Hmm i do get equally bemused when people say things like “whats the world coming to” after reading bad news. It’s like, “read a history book!!” The world has always had ba people/ things happening.
It's 2018, so why are schools still not teaching proper English Comprehension? But no ones been alive for that many years so i don't understand why they say that?
It's 2018 why are we still getting threads like this?
The should be a thread all on its own! I want a laser toaster that scans the toast and takes colour, heat and 'toastiness' into consideration before deciding to pop it.
It's a comparative for when we're surprised that seemingly simple things haven't been achieved, despite how far we've come. For example, it's 2018, we've put men on the moon, I can talk to someone on the other side of the planet in real time right now, I could travel and meet them in less than a day, and I'm typing this from a device which allows me to access the entire Internet and can be stored in my pocket.
Yet has anyone invented an umbrella which can be opened in more than a stiff breeze? Have they ****. PRIORITIES.
