Hi, just booting up my Ryzen 2600, 2x8GB 8Pack Xtreem 4000MHz and B450 Aorus Pro. Worked straight away first time :)

I'm not going to overclock the CPU because it's plenty fast enough (coming from 1st gen i5), but I'm wondering if I should be aiming for 3200MHz with tight timings or 3600MHz with looser timings. What's going to give the better performance? Not looking to push the voltage too high on the RAM either, maybe 1.4 max.

Most ram will work first time at stock 2133 auto settings. :p Get 3200 working first, if you get that going start working up.

I have some of that RAM, not had time to get it stable yet. Either way if you get it memtest stable post your settings. :p

Still waiting on my nVME drive so can't do any stress testing yet!
I know it's not the same, but I don't know if it's any indicator in the slightest but I've managed to boot up fine at 3200MHz 14-14-14-14-30-1T at 1.35v.

:D I should have the drive with me early in the week so I'll get back to you when I can test it.

I do have one question. If I leave the CPU with Precision Boost on, when the CPU boosts it's clock speed, will the memory also be running a higher speed? Do I need to set a static clock speed for the CPU?

Howdy,

I thought it best to post here first as my question is in relation to these memory sticks :)

I just can't get past 3000MHz with these, as soon as I go to 3200mHz or higher, it fails.

The XMP profile says 1600MHz, 14,14,14,34,100 and 1.35V. If set to 1.35V and the rest of the settings at Auto, she'll boot and run fine at 3000MHz, but switch to 14,14,14,34,100 and she won't boot and displays memory error 00 on the screen on the mobo, the restarts.

The CPU is a 2950X on a Zenith Extreme with 4 of these sticks.

Any suggestions on how to progress?

Matt

Update: Checking the memory settings in Mem TweakIt, the auto settings have been set to 16,16,16,16,39,1T

The better performance would be with the ram at 3600, if your mobo and IMC will do it. You won't get 3600 on your ram at 1.4v though, you need 1.45v or maybe 1.46v to be stable. I run mine at 5333 24/7 stable and that needs 1.43v.

@Razor-BladE

hit 3400hz with the Aorus B450 using a very poor ryzen 2700 chip (overclock and IMC is naff) and managed 3700hz with aorus 7 .

worth running mem tests . I also use Ryzen Ram calculator on any ram kit going in any ryzen board . still all ram kits are timed for intel

That's very useful to know.

lot use it on the AM4 thread, guy that created it has helped a lot of people and is expanding ICs quarterly . already covers zen and zen+ chips which kick out slightly different timings .
doesn't work 100% but helps users that couldn't even boot to get somewhere or for those that want the hard work done, then fine tune afterwards

Which option did you use in the ram calc ie safe, extreme etc.

I'll finally make it home tonight after working away, but will get my hands on this kit with my new crosshair hero 7, I got rid of my gigabyte x470 gaming 7, I got sick of the blk fluctuating, my 2700x will do 4.2ghz just, but with the blk jumping about, on 1 boot it was 12 hours prime stable, the next boot it wouldn't get past the 2nd test, here's to hoping the ch7 is better, otherwise I'm going back to MSI.

Id like to know what some of you guys timing and voltages are to get to 3600mhz etc, at the moment I can only just get upto 3400mhz at 14-15-15-36-1T 1.42v with this kit, even loosening the timings to 16-18-18-38 @ 3600mhz, this causes my system to run sluggish as hell, and the boot times are stupid, the cinebench results are way worse with those timings at 3600mhz than at 3400mhz with the 14-15-15-36 ones, running on a ASUS CH7 x470 with a 2700X

This is what my ram runs at, with 4 sticks and on a CH6. I think you need to do a bit of work on your ram. By the way, just because some peeps can run 3600 dosn't mean that all of us can. Mine will boot and bench at 3600, but is by no means Ramtest stable at that speed.

Thanks, got up to 3533 MHz using your timings 1.42v with my 2700x at 4.2ghz 1.4v and soc at 1.125v

Google stress test 2 hours stable, can't stand an even remotely unstable system, the tougher the stress test, the better.

Wow, i pay £230 for the 8 Pack Edition RAM on the 'This week only' offer.. and when the offer ends they drop the price to £218.99.. what a ****take.

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/team...3200mhz-dual-channel-kit-black-my-08l-tg.html

Cheers OcUK, nice way to annoy people.

Still within period to actually send it back

Edit.. Just phoned OcUK, they said the difference will be refunded as i am within the 14 day return window. First time i've ever had this experience, but i do appreciate how easily the chap sorted it out.

Not so mad anymore :)

OK guys those running 4000mhz 8Pack dimms and Gigabyte Gaming 7 Z370 I have managed to assist them in fixing the Bios so XMP is running correctly at 4000mhz C19. See screen shot for testing.

Sadly you cant push passed 4000mhz with this Bios as a bug downclocks the divider to 3733mhz if you select 4133mhz. This is something I am working on now. But at least with this one clocking to 4000mhz is no issue with XMP c19 working perfectly.

Here is the link to download this Beta Bios I used / helped develop:
https://goo.gl/RSFz5N

It has been said on here not to buy 8Pack memory because of problems like this which are nothing at all to do with the memory just the MB vendor. I ask which other company is helping its customers in this way??? You can buy 8Pack memory in confidence I will help and follow up issues but it does take time to test all this stuff..... 3500+ Kits sold now and climbing!!!

Thanks for the follow up, and continued help, but its pretty much a band aid. XMP working yes Text written on the sticks 18.18.18.38 but yet your stating 19.18.18.38 is running correctly when its clearly running at a higher frequency to get the board to train them and work..
we customers prefer to be running @ the timings that are stated on the sticks and with a board that has this memory on its QVL list it should work as stated not as implied above.

I would drop to 3000mhz and fine tune the tRFC variable, that for me got me bandwidth figures equivalent to about 3100 on the XMP timings, so I only lost half of the difference between 3000 and 3200. I wouldnt bother trying to recover with CAS etc. those for me had negligible impact on memory bandwidth. I am not surprised a 4 dimm user is having these problems.

Also try dropping CR to 2T, that seems more of an ego setting than having any measurable performance impact.
