What film did you watch last night?

Jack Reacher 7/10

It might help that I've never read any of the books, but I thought this was a pretty well done Tom Cruise vehicle. It did have some slightly odd interjections of humour in otherwise fairly gritty bits, but the fun wasn't unwelcome, and it didn't jar particularly.

Hmm, I thought this was the worst in the series to date.

Full of plot holes, poor story and annoying characters. I thought Bryce Dallas Howard was particularly awful.

I just found in entertaining. Set piece after set piece and I liked it was trying something new. The elements of horror and the roof scene towards the end I felt worked well.

Films like this are spectacle and I was certainly that. I didn't mind B Howard.. I thought data analysis screamer guy was funny...

It was just a good old romp.

It certainly still had some entertainment value, so it wasn't a total turkey. A good spectacle visually, just the story and characters annoyed me. I'd still rate it 5/10, average.

Deadpool 2

Didn't enjoy it as much as the first, not as funny and not really as good of a film. Nothing really memorable happened. Still ok but nothing more

5/10

I went on a day trip to the island where they filmed this on my honeymoon, it's beyond postcard beautiful. We were lucky enough to get there really early before the tours and had 3 hours uninterrupted. Sadly in reality, it's a tiny island that you can swim around in a short time.

Watched the new Avengers: Infinity War in 4K - first 4K BluRay I've experienced, and I must say, it was quite awesome.

Naturally, I had nothing to compare it to, but there were times were I noticed a massive uplift in detail. Not quite the same as going from DVD-BluRay, but still pretty cool.

There are some really big annoyances for me

Could have been avoided if they just destroyed the mind stone to begin with. Also, Chris Pratt ruined the whole thing, just because he can't hold is temper.

Dwayne Johnson is never going to be a great actor but he can be fairly entertaining and he comes across like a guy who absolutely loves what he does. That seems infectious to the rest of the cast in a bunch of his movies and as such, they end up being quite decent pieces of entertainment.

That said, he seems to be doing everything offered to him these days and what quality there was a few years ago has dropped off rapidly.
