Anyone attending Manchester University willing to sneak an air horn into a meeting and use that instead of clapping?

You mean there was no ethnic diversity?
Shameful!!!
Seen it happen loads of times, long before this thread came up!
What, like the loud noises you'd find in concerts and movies anyway?
If you insist on this being a problem, we'll either sell anxiety earplugs (made from pig ****, or some other environmentally friendly substance) at the foyer, or just stab them in the ear to deafen them - That latter one would probably help us fill the equality quotas too, actually...
Firstly - Where's the challenge in that?
Secondly - How DARE you exclude people who cannot hit one thing against another!!!!!
Oh ye of no military mindset or vision....
Instead, trigger the hell out of them, get them properly wound up to the point of bursting, and then just deploy them against the Russians. It won't end the war, but the Russians will have some serious headaches by the time the rest of our forces get there!!
ISTR he ended up becoming a killer in the end, too. Just needed the right motivation.
Never heard that. Which one(s)?
I don't have sound at work, but I assume that's what this video is about?
All I can say is that Bruce Springsteen and Freddie Mercury say "**** you" to whichever cultures are thus offended:
But if people typically clap at or below chest height and you're in a darkened auditorium, how is that easily seen?
What, the one I already covered by just combining the noise of clapping, with doing it overhead so deaf people can clearly see what the blind people hear?
More pressing, yes, but since that means talking to the local council about drains, I'd rather argue some random ******** on here today!!
That would be childish.
Applause is done as a gesture of approval. If you are told the clapping is not approved of - there is no need to do it.
It makes 0 sense. The idea that you do jazz hands instead of clapping is because what? Clapping makes a sound which they can't hear? So we do something visual instead by waving our hands, except clapping does have the benefit of the visual movement of the hands and the noise? It's completely ******* pointless. This reduces the applause it doesn't add anything.
Yes, it's BSL. Get a grip.People, you need to realise what is happening here.
That's what they want you to think!!!!The 'ol NLP stuff again. Never gets old.

Your posts are making me feel anxious. Are you using NLP on me?That's not what the article says. The article does not say we are switching to jazz hands to cater for deaf people. The article says they are switching to jazz hands because clapping causes/invokes anxiety.
This is NLP designed to make younger generations feel anxious when around applause/ovation.

Humanity has been clapping and applauding for centuries it has never been a problem.

I find it pretty alarming, how some of the educational establishments are encouraging and supporting this sort of thing.
I'm almost at a loss in wondering, exactly how someone who experiences anxiety from the presence of people clapping, has managed to make it from birth to adulthood, without dying? How are they able to go outside and cope with normal day to day life, if clapping can cause them to have some sort of episode.
What do they do when a lorry discharges it's airbrakes nearby, a jet plane flies overhead or a car backfires? do they literally curl up on the floor in the fetal position?
I feel like I'm being trolled each time I read one of these reports, and keep checking the sources to make sure I'm not on the onion or something.
That would be childish.
