This thing is huge..... they had to lower the floor by about 40% to fit it in.

A bit of friendly jostling by excited Citizens wanting to get in the lift, thought i'd leave it in the video :D

How much difference does 8gb vs. 16gb make in terms of performance? I had acceptable performance the other day around Lorville; not great but probably in the upper 20s, low 30s... but last night it was shoddy... Never got of Lorville and fell through the world several times... Suspect latency played a part as I'm not sure whether we have Australasian servers up yet but meh it was rubbish.

Might have been server side, they are getting hammered due to how unpredictable the number of players is during free fly.

8-16 is fairly big but not generally performance FPS wise. More whether you can get in at all!

Presume it helps with loading and content streaming more than anything, the game is running of an SSD so that would help hide the memory capacity slightly... I'm still tempted to re-back with a basic package... I've had fun doing stuff since I've sorted the mouse issue out.

Yeah, its a frigate, the smallest of 3 'known' Cap' ships at 240m long, we know that because me and Raumarik measured it. to put that into perspective the Titanic was 269m long, currently the worlds largest aircraft carrier, the USS Nimitz is 333m long.

The other two, along with the Idris are in this video, sizes could change from what is known at the moment but the middle size one, the Javelin is about 450m long and the Bengal at 960m long.

The enemy, the Vanduul have much bigger ships than that, the smallest of which, the driller is in this video.

Anyway... The Reclaimer at the EXPO, i love the look and stance of this ship, its like something out of Alien.

Even in the 30'th century people cue :D

Still to get to expo. Now I just get a straight CTD when on approach to Lorville, as in after I've flown through the gap in energy barrier. Maybe next year… :)

So I fixed my mouse issues while streaming! Needed to use the USB over IP software to share the mouse to the PC and then disable the local cursor... The whole thing works well from a movement perspective now, just low performance due to the memory problems I suspect! What sort of performance should I expect from GTX1070, 16GB DDR3, Xeon E3-1231v3 if I went from 8GB to the 16GB it recommends?

^^ more stability generally, not a CPU I'm familiar with either so can't honestly say whether the RAM is the bottle neck or not.

RAM certainly helps but what sort of FPS are you getting at 1080P etc?

the cpu is a 4 core, 8 thread haswell based cpu at 3.4ghz; its the same as the i7-4790 without the iGPU and slightly lower clocks.

I'd have to check FPS, not sure... what's the best program to monitor this?

So played some more, disabled vsync and my FPS increased quite a bit; in ship flying sits at around 40fps and lorville at around 20-25 fps. Memory is maxed and page file is over 20GB so I reckon the memory issue will be affecting things. GPU never went above 70% and CPUs sat at around 75%.

It has improved massively and there is a lot more to do but I'm still not liking some of the systems, especially landing of the larger ships... the Drake Caterpillar is hard to land at lorville as you have no idea of space and size and I could find an MFD with landing data on it! Will likely re-back in the future but might wait for another free fly.

Yeah vsync seems broken. I don't think its your ram as everybody getting low fps at busy areas without their system being taxed to the max. Its the game's issue.

The game at its current state is a trolls paradise. Saw someone with a reclaimer at a landing pad last night, used my suit's thrusters and landed on top of the canopy. He took off and I glitched through and ended up inside his ship. I was exploring his ship while he was making his way to lorville blissfully unware. Took my pistol out and shot him as soon as we got there, his dead body glitching through the pilot's seat before it disappeared. Took control of his reclaimer and went on exploring for a bit. 10/10
