I would have rather had Olivia Colman from Broadchurch but probably too hard to get.

IF they ever decide to go back to a male Doctor, I'd like either Kris Marshall (ginger Doctor :) ) or preferably Rory Kinnear. I recall him being linked with the role many years ago and I think he would make an awesome Doctor , plus he isnt doing much else

Although if the writing continues in the fashion it is , its maybe a moot point who the actor or actress is.

Funnily enough, Kris Marshall was linked with the role before it was announced that Jodie got the role. That was probably only because, at the time he'd just quit Death in Paradise.

I remember posting at the time that Kris Marshall was possibly in the running, which wasn't met with much enthusiasm at all from other forum members; so I think you're own your own with that one. :p

But yes; if the writing carries on as it is, it matters not who plays the part.

Not surprised. Chibnall said it was unsustainable to make a 13 episode season every year, which I assume must be due to the funding available; plenty of US networks pump out 20+ episode seasons year after year...

Probably a bit more challenging with sets, costumes, etc changing every episode.

But also, yeah, a bit different culture over there - writers' rooms and suchlike.

That's great - is she going to lift her hand with umbilical sonic, like a neko cat, and utter something
... guess it's too big to hang beneath car mirror.

edit: maybe it's not a wooden actor though.

Just finished the JW season - poor, pretty poor. Why has DW become a vehicle for SJW and cramming the Muslim religion down our throat? I don't care about race, religion etc in a sci-fi show unless it is referring to the aliens agenda (TNG used to do this well). I watch shows like DW for some escapism.

Also, what is it with JW's DW? Watch her and every scene she is gasping for breath trying to make EVERY scene dramatic - ie the group are taking a stroll through a meadow on a summers day and chatting like normal human beings, cue JW and in comes the overacting. When a dramatic scene is on, she uses it to good effect, but come on, not every scene.

DW:

"What a lovely day *sharp intake of breath* for a walk *sharp intake of breath* in the *sharp intake of breath* park *sharp intake of breath*"

approaching closed gate so performs flamboyant movement from the a$$, up over the shoulder down to the waist pointing out straight press of the sonic screwdriver - gate squeaks slowly open.

Anyway, i'm just glad DW is on our screens and hoping next season will be an improvement.

I made it almost through the first episode of this series and turned it off. JW isn't a strong Doctor and I haven't felt the need to be preached to about SJW issues. So I binned the whole series. I won't watch again until I hear that they've stopped ramming that down people's throats. It's a real shame because I grew up with the programme.

Mrs said something interesting earlier, perhaps the episodes have been geared around the team ie getting to know them and poignant points of their heritage and the Doctor is taking a back step because of this. We have had the black dude going to see Rosa Park and now Yaz going to see the Pakistani/India border issues - i'm not sure what they are going to do for Bradley Walsh in Sheffield though :)

Seem a bit pre-occupied with things being rammed down throats if you ask me. I guess if you're one of these people that whines about SJWs you probably watch more than the average amount of porn....

Not a big DW fan myself, but I'm quite intrigued by the mention of an episode about the India/Pakistan split. It's not something that got covered in my history classes in school, and rarely mentioned on our screens, yet a big part of the history of Britain. I'd be interested to see it.

Totally ridiculous.

People obsessing over silly issues that are there. Would you also rather EastEnders was filled with white heterosexual families too?

We live in a diverse multicultural world, and I don't get why people are so stuck in the past still, about what people look like or what they do.

It's hit and miss. Been quite impressed by last few episodes though (not quite up to date yet). The sentient parallel universe one was excellent I thought. Felt like something out of a Nolan film.
