Anyone using/use Xert?

Quite tempted by it myself, something to put some structure and guide what little training I have time for towards something...

Done the month trial. Would not pay for it.

Kept telling me I was severely fatigued and to rest whilst at same time telling me I had 100XSS points required for the day to stay on track.... The regular threshold calculated figure was surprisingly accurate though despite doing no specific tests.

I didn't try the Xert interface on another device as I have a Garmin 810. Need a 520, 820 or Wahoo head unit to use it. The MPA metric sounds great for crit/road racing but useless to non racers I feel. Might be good in Zwift racing though but I do question its accuracy and real world use to be honest.

I personally disliked the interface itself on the website. Very poor. Lack of a proper mobile app as well didn't help.

There is one video on Youtube from Xert themselves with a guy from the DRAFT Zwift race team and a demo of using MPA.... in the video he manages to exceed the MPA by a heap of watts on two occasions.... So yeah, I don't understand what they are trying to show or prove with that video, it's not a good demonstration is it when the MPA reported is massively wrong?

Good feedback and your experiences, thanks mate!

For me I quite like the interface, it reminds me of TR with a bit more intuitive bits and naming/laying out of stuff so it kinda makes more sense. To some degree, to my untrained eye. Certainly find it makes a little more sense than TR where I found myself googling many of the abbreviations as there didn't seem to be a Help bit, or a link to follow on where things where coming from ( :D ). I think for me it's algorithms guiding 'what to do' (without a huge amount of input from me) is ideally what I'm after. Lazy ad-hoc non-plan, automated planning.

Reminds me quite a bit of Wattsboard actually. Maybe I'll just go back to that after 30 days as it's free!? Still, started the 30 day Xert so will see how it shapes up over the Xmas break and my Zwifting to see if useful or not. :)

Anyone know.

Rotor cranks. I have three sets of instructions and they all say different things regarding spacers. I no longer need the 11mm DS spacer due to the c bear BB. You also need some thin spacers, I think just for the adjustment nut to wind onto.

One set says 0.5mm on either side.

One says 1mm on NDS.

One says 1.2mm on NDS.

I think I have a 0.5 and a 1mm shim but would have to measure them.

I have assembled with no shims and have no lateral play currently and don’t need to wind the adjuster on the NDS in at all.....

Edit; I had a reply from C bear who said in my case no spacers needed.

Canyon up and running again, and ordered a replacement part with free delivery because of a bit of a mess up there end, and new Ultegra caliper arrived for the pinnacle! But I think it's a flat mount not post mount so will néed an adapter...

Yeah no spacers on my bikes either. The c-bear bearing cover should be enough for the rotor adjuster to wind onto.

Well I thought I’d get my bike finished today but it wasn’t to be.

I spent the time measuring using the old outers to make sure I cut the new ones the right length.

The cables now enter the frame just behind the headtube. I’m sure it works well for electrical shifting however it is a crap setup for mechanical, you end up with the cables looping above the stem and then they have undue sideways pressure from forcing the big loops and a tight turn after the bar tape.

Pro bike photo showing it will never look neat/good.

Anyway, after all that rigmarole, brakes done, FD done, and the rear inner cable is too short, I can’t get a loop on the cable to bring it into the RD... I bought BBB inner cables however they are only 2m long. Whoever thought that was a good idea at BBB needs a slap, Sram ones are 2.2m, I ordered some from JE on Wednesday but don’t know if they have even shipped yet, hence buying the BBB yday as I wanted it finished.

So then I think I’ll at least retape the bars, which results in ripping the hood totally (as a tear had started where the shifter pushes over).

Grrrr

@Berger having a right old time eh?
Do not worry. It'll be glorious when it is finished. For summer 2020 :p :p

So I order a cable from Amazon at great expense.

And then get a RM notification that they will deliver my JE James order today (with the cables in that cost £2 not £5).

And I’m at work not home as wasn’t expecting anything!

I’m sure it will be great when it’s done, just turning into a right money pit/hassle partly due to trying to be finished for xmas. Not won over by the colour either.

Those are placeholder rims for the Enves you've got on order right?:)

Those clinchers are bomb proof for UK roads!

I have the 65mm ENVE ones I use for TT.

Stuck with using 23mm tyres to fit on the old P3 frame then though.

I wanted my old frame to last me until we all had disc brake electric shifting at a reasonable price!

Caught out by the ice this morning,
After a little accident, I've broken the head off my left femur off so I've had it wired & screwed back into place.
Hoping that does the job, otherwise is a full hip replacement later next year.

Looking at at least 6 months off the bike :(
