It feels strange when 4 years later I'm looking to upgrade and for £350 I'm being offered a card that's barely any faster than the one I have in real terms.

This is exactly what I was going to post.. The card is only just beating a card that is well over 2 years old at a cost that is almost exactly the same... This card is a joke.. I actually more than that - it's taking advantage of people.

Paid around £350 for my 1070 new, perks of were I used to work, in no way in hell is a 2060 worth that.

Seriously just **** nvidia prices, the whole RTX line imo is a massive disappointment

I'm guessing the whole tagline of this being more powerful than a 1070ti is based on it having RT cores and not so much standard game performance.

Was a 980 really $550 at launch? I only paid £500 for a 980ti close to launch and we know $ = £ generally.
That's what Google told me - pound was much better against the dollar in them days. Plus 580 would have dropped in price when ti was released - in the good ol days

Got my 980 for £420 (evga acx 2.0) around march 2015, so a couple months after release but before the 980ti dropped. Came with Witcher 3 and that horribly optimized batman game.

Crazy that the current x60 card is almost the same price as the Maxwell 80 card.

It will be interesting to see the sold numbers on this card in 12 months time.

NVidia will sell shedloads of the card despite the fact it is a bit overpriced.

This is a card that should be occupying the £200 price point but until AMD start producing cards that are more efficient on a new architecture this is not going to happen.

Medium Settings at 1080p with RTX in BF5 and not even hitting 60 fps for £350

This card and the whole GFX market at the moment is disgusting. Glad I'm not part of it. You can stick 20 series up where the sun don't shine and you can stick Radeon 7 there too

Its a stagnant overpriced mess...Anyone who buys the 2060 needs to re-evaluate their lives :p

Having recently come from a GTX 970 with its 4 GB (3.5 GB) of VRAM that I was using at 3440x1440, I'm not 100% convinced that 6 GB will be all that crippling, at least not for 1080p. I wouldn't be surprised if games that seem to be taking advantage of more VRAM are actually just preloading textures and non-essentials for later use.

My GTX 970 would often be at 3.5 GB memory usage exactly and not suffer any slow downs, which I think is a credit to the nVidia drivers for utilising the limited amount of VRAM as efficiently as possible.

I used a 1060 3GB for like a week with my Acer XB271HU and was fine with everything set accordingly at 1440p. This thing will run out of grunt before it hits a hard limit with its vRam.

Same, I don't hit the 3.5Gb limit on my 970. 6GB isn't a problem.

In a few months I get my 5 year service award at work which is 500 euro to spend on gaming tech. Pretty likely to be a 2070, or possibly 2060 + a new phone.

Either will be a decent upgrade gaming wise (and hopefully not coil whine like mad...I spend most of my PC time with the unreal editor open with uncapped fps) plus I get the tensor and RT cores to play with.

Decent offering imo.

In long run Nvidias greed will hurt them just for the sake of current profit they are making.

I don't see why. If they're selling at this price today, why not tomorrow? Just because you're priced out doesn't mean there isn't plenty of people willing to pay the prices. Why that's happened though I'm unsure. Is it growth of other economies pushing the global price up? The decline of the pound? Increase in costs for Nvidia and AMD?

DLSS will give more performance soon apparently. Chart at link below shows the 2060 over 60FPS at 1440P (not 1080P). All of the 20 series will get a boost soon thanks to DLSS

With a 2080 already 73-75 FPS and sometimes 80 most maps I;ve played (1440P)and expecting a nice boost from that soon too.

We've gone from originally expecting 60 FPS from a 2080 Ti at 1080P to now having a 2060 giving 60+FPS at 1440P. Progress? :). Predicted all along it's going to see good improvements and the initial naysayers gonna be all wrong - very good progress
