Right it's me again with another car change :D

I got rapidly fed up with how uncomfortable the 330d felt and tbh the E92 quality is pretty naff. So I had a think and thought I need to go to one superb 'daily' rather than a few and a good one at that with similar quality to the Aston. E46 I've borrowed to a friend until he gets back on his feet and he may even end up keeping. E36 is still with me and plan on spending some time myself getting it perfect.

I present my new peasant mobile, Jag XK 4.2. Very similar to the Aston. I actually find the interior more enjoyable. Big lazy V8. Quick on the paddle shift (quickest I've had) comfy inside, enough toys etc etc. I'm hoping this one keeps me happy for a while and I can stop changing. Can't say I've not experienced a load of good metal though :D


The basics : the chassis is great it can be a great GT car for cruising to work and then you can still have the fun of giving it a good blast on the paddles. It would be nice to have a bit more V8 volume as a bit sedate but that's what you expect from this age Jag I suppose. Unless it's @Gibbo SVR. It has been returning 27MPG which is incredible for what it is.

Reliability wise they are good cars, you certainly get a lot for your cash with the XK.

This cost me £7k when you take what I paid for the 330d and the cash I added to go to this.

The old chap I bought it off took my 330d as he needed something for his lad.

yeah I know they're supposed to be pretty decent all around. Only thing that puts me off is the reviews etc saying that suspension is way to hard and crashes over every bump?

I want a v8 as a daily driver, don't want to spend much on one to be honest.

so been looking at lexus gs430, ls430, xk etc..

Out of interest and you may have answered this before but is there any reason that you do not just use your Aston as your daily?

XK suspension hard?

It’s the most comfy GT car I’ve had.

I prefer to keep it extra special. It makes the difference when you haven't drove it for a good while and you fire up those 12 cylinders again.
 
My wood is growing on me. Erm :D

It adds as a reminder I'm driving a Jag. I could change it to the alloy or whatever but I think I'll keep as it does add something to the interior

Nice bargain tastic Jaaaaag that!

They cost peanuts to run and are relatively bomb proof, Jaguar servicing is so cheap it almost makes a specialist redundant but a Specialist is even cheaper.

Noise wise you can make them sound pretty insane, you could probably get away with just removing some silencers from the stock system for around £100-£200 and it would then sound pretty naughty.

I'd not bother tuning it much been the NA model there is not much to gain, it would cost probably as much as you paid, just delete some or all the silencers and enjoy some crazy V8 noise.

Great wafters and they handle quite nice too once you learn the car.
