2700x build - X470 Motherboard Choice

@GIGA-Man

I meant to say, I can reproduce the sound issue I mentioned 100% of the time by doing the following -

Apply some settings in the BIOS that fail to boot, so you get the 3 restarts before entering the BIOS.
After this point, even with settings that do boot, the sound from the rear green port will not work until a clear CMOS is performed.
So it's a boot failure that is triggering the sound issue for my motherboard. This is with F3, F5, F6e and F6, not trie3d the other BIOS versions.
The resume from sleep issue is present in all those BIOS, F5 is worse in that it crashes on wake or if it does wake, all the fan profiles are messed up. Lets hope the next BIOS does fix that given they seem to know there is an issue with s3 wake.

The B450 Gaming Pro Carbon AC from MSI is probably the best B450 board you can get, and its actually better than some of the x470 boards out there currently

I will report this to my HQ now and get back to you ASAP.

MSI... the B450 ITX Is , but features are worse then other ITX boards and B450 boards which is the kicker . Technically on paper, if Asus do release the newer version of their B450 Strix then it hammers home, but have a feeling thats actaully their x570 board , as its overkill for a B450!

I chased my HQ again yesterday, they asked me what you changed in the BIOS to make it crash as when they do so they cannot replicate the sound issue you report happens every time after crash.

Any BIOS change that prevents the system booting correctly (in my case setting a low cas, say 12 with the DRAM voltage too low) although I've just tried that again and it's not consistent over several attempts. A cold boot with power off at the wall before starting up again will bring the sound back. I'm fairly sure it only occurs after accessing the BIOS. The sleep bug is still there on every BIOS I've tried, currently on F8 - the system either doesn't wake at all ( that is far less frequent with F8) or it does wake but the case and CPU fan speed profiles are messed up, fans running far too fast. There's still reports on F8 regarding these on going issues if you google. On a plus side, F8 does allow me to get the ram up to 3333, which it would not achieve with previous BIOS versions. It's a great motherboard but a pity Gigabyte don't get the BIOS right - even some feedback as to why those earlier BIOS F6e/F6 were pulled would have been good.

Just spotted someone has started another topic here on the sound - http://forum.gigabyte.us/thread/6399/aorus-gaming-wifi-audio-issue

@subroutine will have to try F8 on mine , running either F2/3 as havent updated mine in well over a year and running 3700hz on 2700 at 4ghz .

dont put my PC into sleep due to kids but is always turned off at the wall so they cant turn it back on again haha - though i do have silent wing fans so wouldn't actually be able to tell if they arent running on profile or not as they are normally set to 80/100% speed

It's surprising you can get your memory that high, especially on earlier BIOS. Is that HCI stable though ?

few errors over a few hours, but not doing anything data critical- just pure gaming and benchmarks. dial it down to 3600hz and fine .

using 8 pack's 4000hz kit and ryzen ram calculator - helps tons !

IMC of my cpu is good but overclocking it is poor! cant even hit 4.2ghz on a single core ! and takes more volts then normal for 4ghz all cores, most 2700 non x can do 4.1ghz under water

I have the 3200 kit and use the RAM calc as a start.

Mine boosts to 4.3ghz on single cores but I use a -0.1v negative vcore. That allowed a higher boost and it is still stable. CPU temps are down from 70 average under all core load to 61 with that negative voltage which is probably why it boosts higher. I'm still now sure what the difference is between PBO auto and enabled ? I get a slightly higher core speed ( 100mhz ish) but the temps are up at least 10C to achieve that speed increase, which is not worth it imo.

Hello,

I've looked into this more, my HQ are still reporting they cannot replicate the sound issue or wake up issue with the F8 BIOS. However I have seen a report there is a new Realtek driver 6.0.1.8612, the reports are that it fixes a no sound issue when a system resumes from wake up.

Hello,

I've looked into this more, my HQ are still reporting they cannot replicate the sound issue or wake up issue with the F8 BIOS. However I have seen a report there is a new Realtek driver 6.0.1.8612, the reports are that it fixes a no sound issue when a system resumes from wake up.

I've installed that driver to see if it helps the sound issue but I've had sleep disabled for a long time now due to the sleep bug and still lost the sound at times. A cold boot, power off at the wall is the only way to get the sound active again when it does happen. As for sleep, there are numerous reports on the web going way back over the majority of the BIOS as far as I can see. My machine will wake from sleep on F8, which it didn't do on earlier versions but as I say, all the fan profiles, including CPU are running at near max speed after resuming from sleep. That is consistent every time I've tried it.
Here's another source where both bugs are mentioned -

I think I've fixed the sleep issues by removing all the Gigabyte software - (I removed those to gain some more fps in x-plane by reducing background tasks) , inc. APP center,RGB Fusion, and SIV (this is the one I think was the problem). As for the sound bug, that is still not fixed but there seems to be more info here -

http://forum.gigabyte.us/thread/6399/aorus-gaming-wifi-audio-issue

There's a "IFU_xe32_v1090.zip" mentioned that is supposed to fix the issue if you read that pdf file supplied by Gigabyte along with the file, http://forum.gigabyte.us/post/28479 . Please can you check that out for me.

Thank You.
