Alex Salmond has been arrested

All reference to Alex Salmond has been erased from the SNP’s History page on their website.

The 2014 independence referendum was Scotland’s greatest ever democratic event. In the months building up to the vote, the Yes campaign – spearheaded by the SNP and its then depute leader Nicola Sturgeon – engaged with every community in Scotland. Support for independence reached record highs and levels of political participation blossomed across the country.

If so, revisionism at its best. The man is accused but has not been tried so it is a little premature to write him out of history even if it was correct to do so, which I doubt.

I'd reckon about 55.3% of the Scottish population think it's correct to write him out of history no matter what the outcome of this.

Is this due to the fact that they know what the outome will be.
Maybe, who knows. I don't think he's anything to do with the SNP now so no wonder they don't want to be associated with him, even if he is found not guilty he will be damaged goods because of his trial by social media
.

I bet wee Nicola is relieved that the news focus is now elsewhere, she was on a sticky wicket with her poor handling of the
Salmond allegations.

It looked for a while that she may have to resign.

Worry not though, another fish-named MSP was limbering up on the touchline
waiting for the call to be a potential FM, a certain Torquil Mullet, MSP for Inversnecky Central is
ready for his close-up

A part of me wonders if the meeting's Sturgeon had with Salmond was a desire to know the truth from Salmond before the hammer dropped (if assuming they didn't know, which is unlikely), as Salmond kinda put the parties image above his by leaving at the first sign of investigation. (removing information from the site before the police officially declared anything, was probably too much of a hint for the government to reveal, so it makes sense they didn't just remove it earlier.

Mind you i'd much rather have him erased purely on his RT show, little treasonous ****.

I don't know what the English system is like, but to be charged and reported to the PF here in Scotland you generally need to have an allegation of a crime/offence and corroboration of that allegation through other means of evidence.

On the face of it, for those charges brought against salmond, it's not unreasonable to think that such evidence exists ... Otherwise charges wouldn't have been libelled.

Doesn't mean he's proven guilty by any accounts, but at the same time, there appears to be a sufficiency for proceedings.

Time will tell.
