Nvidia RTX 5 months on-a win or fail?

If prices continue this way I think I'll be done with pc gaming. Take up something cheaper, like masturbating with a razor wire covered gauntlet, which presumably would give me the 2080ti buying experience.
Hah!! :D

It's still the fastest consumer GPU on the market, so it's a poor price to perf card but a crap GPU it is not
Agreed. Great GPU, silly price, end of story.

Maybe people will start to realise Nvidia company strategies now. They are one big fat lie, NGreed is what Nvidia is. And people on here wonder why I back and support AMD's view.. !!

People keep going out and buying Nvidia stuff even when they clearly lie but they still buy! Nvidia will keep doing what nvidia does best.

The whole point of RTX is it makes Global Illumination much easier and far more realistic without having to complex hacks that are also extremely computationally expensive.

The fact t that global illumi action was restricted to RTX is hardly a shock at all, that is exactly toy what it is designed for.

Though what we have clearly here is gimping of the non RTX visual quality to the point looks worse than 10 year old games like Crysis 2. Hell ESO has better lighting and better Ray tracing, if you look at the Ebon armour red orbs how reflecting on the metallic surfaces of the wearer. And how different it looks when leather or cloth based armour is used.

The difference is, most people don't care for politics when it comes to having fun. They see a GPU and it suits their need and they buy it. You are literally seeing this hobby too deeply and supporting a company that would do the same if they had the upper hand. You back and support AMD, as they send you freebies, which is fair enough.

Very wrong Greg.
Am just a gamer that is passionate about the PC platform, I want what is best for the platform and firmly stand by AMD view on making this a better ecosystem. Just look over the last 5 years alone to what AMD has done to for this platform vs what Nvidia as!! Tell me am wrong in saying AMD has not focused on making this better for us all. Right from the games it backs to hardware and software.
What has Nvidia done that all us PC gamers can say good job Nvidia!

Its not about Politics! Its not about being a fanboy! Its all about the platform and what I want from it!
Its not just the PC platform either its also the reason I walk around with Android in my pocket. Nvidia/Apple is everything I dislike they would have everything locked down to themselves if they could.

And I can agree not all gamers do care about the platform, they just want to game! I can fully understand that.

Agree with that completely. Rather silly really to be honest, arguing over this and that, acusing those of whatever for buying the products. However, it goes to show how passionate people are about GPU's and gaming too. They're just GPU's and some are indeed looking at this, a hobby, too deeply.

Provide the best GPU's.

And that's what matters if you're not interested in the politics etc.

Well you are using politics now for your gaming, so I certainly am not wrong. NVidia has done plenty for the gamer, which you well know.

VRR. NVidia was the one's who made it happen and AMD followed suit a year after.

That isn't helping the PC platform! That was there own gain till sales started to be effected!

AMD view - Focus on a Open source method that later became the standard that all "USERS" can enjoy = Better for the PC platform! Do you now understand more?

We all win!

Again what else?

NEWARK, CA (12 May 2014) – The Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA®) today announced the addition of ‘Adaptive-Sync’ to its popular DisplayPort™ 1.2a video interface standard. [...] The technology has been a standard component of VESA’s embedded DisplayPort (eDP™) specification since its initial rollout in 2009.

You asked me something that NVidia had done, I provided something and if NVidia hadn't done it, you wouldn't be sitting in front of your Freesync screen. Not sure how much I can simplify it for you but that is the bottom line. But again, you are using politics for your purchase choice, which is your choice, whereas I would rather buy what is best for me. I do the same with phones, cars, pub visits and anything else that gives me enjoyment.

Am talking towards the PC platform. Sure Nvidia has released fast GPU! But what have they done to help the platform. Its a simple question that doesn't need twisting.

They provide the best performance on the platform.
That helps the platform.

If you disagree, then fair enough, but that's where the conversation ends. Because you're the wrong trying to bring politics into it.

No I am not. G-Sync was mentioned by Tom Peterson and a couple of months after, AMD said "Ohhh, we can do this" and about a year after NVidia had G-Sync screens out, they released the drivers which would allow Freesync monitors to work.

Nvidia were first to market but they didn't develop VRR. That was VESA. I have already demonstrated to you that fact with official statements. If Nvidia hadn't released Gsync AMD would've still released Freesync because they're both implementations of VESA's Async.

Kinda like how if Christopher Columbus hadn't discovered the Americas they would've still been discovered... by the next guy.

By the logic you employ if AMD didn't develop Mantle Microsoft wouldn't have released DX12 and you wouldn't have RTX now. So you have to thank AMD for your RTX. As well as the 1000 other firsts AMD is responsible for. You're welcome btw.
