Why did my uncle have gallium vials?

Wink face? Chris! We've talked about this several times! You need someone to edit your copy before it gets sent out to the masses!

Say you're sorry for ruining English even in pictorial form. Say it!

No! Say it like you mean it!

Chris - you've lost the news. I hope you're happy now.

Best Regards, English Competency +1

fake e: well, for content: was your solicitor a bank robber who enjoyed mirrors or hearing disorders?

Thank you, but when I want your opinion on my competency with English, or anything else for that matter I will tell you what it is ;) As an Antipodean penner of homosexual fantasy at a supermarket checkout it does not put you high on my list of mentors.

My last solicitor was Andrew J Taylor of West End Chambers, Cheadle, Cheshire. Google him... Many of my family were in law so my jaundiced opinion of lawyers is quite well founded. Don't say I have made it up about him being my solicitor unless willing to put money where your mouth is :)

I swear there was a heatsink paste with gallium, he was a secret extreme overclocker

One of the most probable answers to this question is just a sidestep, its not actual gallium. Just the jars fit whatever mixture he wanted to store and its just some copper grease or similar type lubricant for an old lawn mower.
Obviously I dont mean specifically just that but along those lines he stored a lot of it because of some tool which kept failing and got fed up and/or was forced to buy a lot of it at once.

Or its a mix or solvent type thing for paint. If you know for sure its pure gallium I still think he was forced to buy a minimum amount of it but only wanted a bit to fill some brief requirement.

is used in microwave circuits, high-speed switching circuits, and infrared circuits. Semiconducting gallium nitride and indium gallium nitride produce blue and violet light-emitting diodes (LEDs) and diode lasers. Gallium is also used in the production of artificial gadolinium gallium garnet for jewelry.

Maybe he was using it to kill queen wasps?

It's a main ingredient in the poison. I should know. My dad kills them as a living.

Is it elemental gallium or a compound? It melts easily (the so-called disappearing spoon) has has the widest liquid range of any element.

There is it's called Liquid Metal.

Gallium is a fun metal to play with as it melts at skin temperature and is an alternative to mercury in some applications. Stains like a **** though as unlike mercury it's wet so it smears on surfaces or gets stuck in carpets and then solidifies again. Bought some off amazon and it took weeks to get rid of every trace of the stuff from the house, ended up on every lightswitch and door handle.
