1.4K desktop build (tower no perennials)

I'll have fun posting in the benchmark threads lol. He said he got it to 5.2GHz stable but temps were in the high 80s and he didn't like that but sounds ok to me. He's swapping out the 3600MHz 16gb ram for 32GB Corsair Vengeance 3000MHz.

1600 without the Evo 970.
Personally i would buy it, as you could argue you're getting the RTX 2080ti for less than half price when listing the cost of individual components. And most people would snatch up a half price RTX 2080 ti with a 2 year guarantee...

It's a gamble, given the slight issue with RTX 2080s, but you would hope a card would have shown it's problems within the first 2 years... (But, again, if you consider it's half price - what's the gamble...)

Yeah he wants me to test it first I was going to just pick it up and go lol

How much are second hand Inno 3d ti's going for? Depending on performance I may sell it and get an RTX 2080 and then still got a nice bit left over.

He's only opened the inno3d to test it

@Plec , would ask for a bag of £1 haribo to sweater the deal hehe .
Yep, deal breaker. I had my pack this morning while unpacking compressed air and thermal paste...

If you knocked 10% off average selling price you should sell it very quickly with a valid guarantee...

But will I want to? RTX2080Ti dropped down to RTX2080?
Ideally, not, for 4K gaming.

Plus...

Your decision - but you can spin it that you're getting a very cheap high end card (not brand) with a 2 year guarantee.

I certainly couldn't sell it on here as I'd be making a profit.

I might not, I want something long lasting and because I've spent a bit too much after this it's time to really start sorting finances out.

Reality is @willhub you will selling off a card to replace it with a better branded/guaranteed product but would lose performance off the back of it (only a problem as you're 4K).

What you need to decide is if you want to chance a budget 2080 ti with a smaller guarantee. Or, perhaps, ask yourself would you have bought a heavily reduced priced 2080 Ti with a 2 year guarantee as the compromise?

And if I get those free games which I don't think he's redeemed I can cancel Origin subscription saving me 14.99.

I'll see how I get on for a few days, is it safe to overclock the memory in general with RTX2080's?

Wrong, if you've got the receipt or copy.. the. You just have to below that if you want to get technical with the admins.. for all they know, seller could have charged full price for the card and few hundred for the rest of the system ;)

@orbitalwalsh - your thoughts. It seems like a win win for me regardless of guarantee when you way in price he's paying?

Yeah, I'd be tempted to game for a year then get rid of the 2080ti for a new one with warranty and just as rumors start hitting if and being able to compete . Card shouldn't go In the first year ... At least .

Check for coil whine... If it has some, or get seller before hand to run unigine valley for an hour at 1080p... Will lesson it before you test it.

All vendors are useless and running in cards from factory... Just bare minimum to gain if they are faulty or not :/

Good idea and @willhub would have time to shore up his finances and buy a better Ti card after selling his still relatively new card (still under guarantee card). And the newer card should be the newer revision if they're needed. Again, win win...

I assume the 2080Ti would still hold value in a year going by the 1080Ti? Seems like an investment as long as it keeps working :p

And what does the coil whine mean is that bad? I've always had components with coil whine I find.

Coil whine more common in reference cards. Some are so bad you've got to RMA it and some people just don't notice it whilst others do .play it by ear... Literally

I ain't bothered as long as the whine doesn't have that sharp end of the whine. Some are a little more subtle even when louder, I don't mind that sort, it makes it feel alive lol

1) I'll ask the question that's the elephant in the room: why is this chap selling his top end rig so cheap?

2) all rtx gddr6 cards are affected by the space invaders lottery.

3) one would have to be a mug to buy a 2080ti with minimal warranty because of (2). That being said, if you do want to sell it on in the future, all you do need to find, is one of those said mugs. I do wonder if the resale values of the rtx 2000 series will hurt because of its perceived unreliability. Especially the ones out of warranty (or have minimal warranty left).

Didn't buy it

Ram had to run in single channel is when in dual channel one slot wasn't registering, either a motherboard or most probably a CPU issue. I would have bought it if I didn't have this issue a while ago with a pc that I ended up getting rid for this issue

And the 2080ti with receipt he hadn't tested so who's to know what would happen, also micron memory not Samsung

Literally had my card out, I didn't realised the extent of the ram issue he did state it but thought it was two slots and it would still run in dual channel
