AMD Zen 2 (Ryzen 3000) - *** NO COMPETITOR HINTING ***

They better reveal something tonight but I'm not at all surprised the core count has stayed the same on the tiers too. I expect the price to be similar aswell.

Basically a bit higher clock, bit better ipc and better with memory.
Which is fine by me as was going to get a 2000 series anyway.

Livestream time for AMD at Computex 2019.

We'll I'm hoping to get one of these new Zen2 CPU's, and hopefully one of the mobo makers will include an ISA slot so I can install my Western Digital Paradise VGA Accelerator. :D
:D Sorry, missed this.

I look forward to your mandatory thread entitled - "Is my GPU bottlenecking my CPU?"

Ryzen gave me most fun tweeking since i was tweeking 2500k and its DDR3 samsung green's :D
Yep, same:

The 2500K/2600K the chip that kept on giving and giving and didn't require a ring.

And Ryzen - a new balancing act with each AGESA release - oddly frustrating and fun at the same time. I kinda hope that Zen 2 will be more of the same (maybe not quite so fickle) - and the pipe dream of better clocking headroom (binning process is getting too refined)!

Bit higher clock sure, but ~15% higher IPC is a big jump and the memory boosts could help massively too. I think you are underestimating how big these combined boosts could be.

Gamers Nexus just came out with word that there will be a 16 core Ryzen. A revelation.

I think they would be a bit foolish not to have a 16c part at launch, everyone who has even remotely followed this launch knows about rumoured 16 core parts and the leaks make it rather apparent that one exists and is out being tested with motherboard manufactures.

Lower clocks than expected from rumours, and not much info tonight when everyone was saying there was gonna be..

Why do i get the feeling this is typical disappointment feeling from AMD, ah well.

Look forward to seeing benchmarks and how much game performance improves at least.

It's only going to be disappointing because half the web believes some loon posting made up numbers on an excel spreadsheet screenshot and then gets something considerably less.

Cant wait for the announcement! Even if they dont end up releasing all the CPU's at once (which is highly likely) as long as we get some at least coming soon, i'll be good!

Just really need to finally see some actual benchmarks and performance numbers

Oh I'm not underestimating it at all and am very happy about it but keeping my expectations in check.
The extra cores and subsequent price drop per tier doesn't look like it's happening but I thought that sounded to good to be true. Eg 3600 with 8 core.

With the stuff coming out it doesn't really mean anything, we will know in the morning with any luck.

I am sure we will see 12 cores and 50/50 we will see 16 cores. As was said earlier I don't get why they wouldn't show off a 16 core cpu as it's clearly possible and it's clearly of interest to a lot of people. Even as a flagship at high price it would make more sense than no 16 core at all.

At least we should be looking at 15% or so minimum improvement with the clock and IPC increase, so it could still turn out good..

Don't make me think of smug sounding Scottish accents :p

When?

Pretty sure GTX 2080 was launch and buy same day. If there were pre orders, it's after reviews.

I've only ever seen AMD do it with the R9 290X.
I'm sure I remember Vega 56 and Vega 64 being available to buy before reviews went out but maybe I am just misremembering. To be honest, having review embargoes end at the same time as launch is just as bad because these days stock runs out so fast that it's often a choice between ordering immediately (or pre-ordering), waiting a few weeks, or paying stupidly inflated prices.

It's always hard trying to read reviews and buy at the same time :p.

Sometimes there is plenty of stock, but other times it's a mad dash.

The Radeon 5870 was a case of having to buy before I could read reviews whereas the GTX 680 there was a bit of time to read before I bought.
