Brand new build roughly £1000

Could you clarify that you've tried the following - simple yes no answers next to each will do (quote link and add your text in yellow):
  • cleared CMOS (i.e. unplug computer from wall, press case button to deplete all residual power, then clear CMOS) - loaded optimised defaults ignored XMP for now
  • Tried alternate stick and in different slot
  • different SATA lead
  • different SATA port
  • different USB 2 via back of motherboard
  • New USB Windows install (think this is a yes)
  • And that you're definitely pulling out the USB when Windows states it's going to reboot in 10 seconds (I'm guessing you are - but i have to ask as can't see/know your previous experience)
  • **Also, try two independent leads onto the GPU - from your pic i think your using a splitter off the one lead.
  • And are you deleting partitions etc on each install?
May have missed a few things but busy (not a problem to look in) - but consider the extra, 'independent' lead to the GPU.

I will send over video and go thru everything later on. Im still stuck working .

The power to gpu required a 8 and a 6 slot. On the power cable was x2 6's with the loose 2's to add on if needed if that makes sense but yeah just from the 1 cable to the psu

That should work fully for installing and running operating system.
For gaming with high power consumption card one cable split in the end can compromise stability of 12V and also ground reference, because of increased voltage losses.
(unless wire cross section is doubled)
But during Windows intallation process, desktop, web browsing etc currend draw stays low and there shouldn't any chances for problem from that.

As BIOS level operates normally (no instability/crashing) one thing to check would be that BIOS isn't old.

At least that 7B85v14 would be something to test, though also v16 might have non-CPU support related patches.

Christ, snow can even make a barrage of rocket artillery look idyllic (grid square erasers).
It looks even better at night, or what goes for day in Lapland during Winter.
Anyway that would be something better continued in private messages if interested on subject.

I'm clutching at straws - slim possibility of dodgy lead. Perhaps wiser to swap lead with another altogether.

He's up to date. Trying to get clarification of a 'proper' CMOS reset - as 'may' be a possible cure all. (Poor sod is laying flooring in this heat).

It's an odd problem. Only one i've read about - never experienced it myself so trying to cover all bases as we've covered the obvious (depending on above check list when he gets back.).

They even included a reindeer(?) and aurora borealis in this one - the Finnish Defence Force certainly know how to take the 'edge of impending death' off their hardware :D

cleared

cleared cmos, removed battery etc

removed 1 ram stick but not alternated slots yet

swapped sata lead and put into new port

tried x2 usbs now

pulling out usb on 10 second countdown

fitted x2 leads to the gpu now

when volumes come up on ssd install i always delete / format whatever options available and the create new then click next

i wil edit this post in next 10mins with a quick youtube vid of what i just been doing...excuse the shoddy camerawork !

skip thru the loading bits :)

fully format the ssd first...then
put boot option 1 as harddiskteamL5
and boot option 2 as uefi usb key
leave the usb drive in the usb port and restart
see how you get on

@tamzzy - if this was my system i would now hook up my Ubuntu USB and check the drive and reformat that way - then try again. Windows may be borking the process with it's needless interfering...

Thoughts?

(if you've scan read the thread - we've covered almost everything, even the seemingly unrelated. We've even covered Finnish military hardware - which is fast becoming an option!)

might be a faulty ssd. not unheard of.
