MSI B450 Tomahawk / Pro Carbon & Ryzen 3000

Still debating between Tomahawk and Gaming carbon pro AC, can anyone tell me the difference between the two M2 slots. The tomahawk has one slot that uses up sata ports 5 and 6 if you use it. The Carbon has two slots, one the same as above and the other uses pcix lanes, is that second slot superior then? how much real difference between the two?

Thanks

You might want to hold off on the tomahawk for a bit, it seems msi are re releasing their b450 boards with a bigger 32mb bios chip, right now they are 16mb chips with a lite bios to be able to support older ryzen chips as well as the new ones .

Yea come across this today, so definately going to wait for the "max"? versions.

Hmm.

I've just bought a B450 Tomahawk today.
With the recent announcement that the bios chip might not be big enough, I checked the MSI site.
Just saying older CPU's not usable.
I thought I'd be fine with my Ryzen 3700x - when they all arrive.

I'll see, when my upgrade components arrive.

I'm a bit gutted, considering sending my gear back

a bit over-dramatic? MSI website says it's the trash-end cpus that will not have support.

Probably over dramatic yeh, but may as well as I won't have my 3700 x for about 6 weeks so better off just waiting for the new tomahawk.

@nitram100 yeah, if you're not using it now, better to wait...if only for the bios support.
question is, how long it will take for the new boards to get into retail channel and if etailers will price them higher than current boards

;)

Oh, I like that.

Depending on how fast my cpu gpu are dispatched, I have a bit of time to decide on a board.
Wait for Max, get back my non Max, or X570.
