I'm in New York (midtown manhattan)... Since Thursday 18th July.
I kid you not the heat has a feels like temp of 42c even though its about 38c but the killer thing is the sheer humidity - the roads are melting, air con units are breaking down all over the shop as well as contributing to the heat. It is insane.
My prior trips to Rome and the Maldives have had equally high temps but not this humidity. I recall my wife and I doing a mad 6hr walk of Rome that I had planned whilst the temps were in the high 30s. We can barely manage 1hr in NY. Even the locals are struggling hugely.
That is great to know. I've had a hell of a day with my coach breaking down on highway 95 nexto Kane Stadium after returning from Woodbury Common. Bring stuck on an elevated freeway in the searing heat was a colossal nightmare for everyone. Took some 2.5 hrs for a replacement coach to arrive. My home AC is running flat out and can't keep the upstairs below 82F (28C) today.
Thankfully things return to normal next week.
Could be hitting 37 of 38 in the east on Thursday. That will be uncomfortable for me on the tube in a suit...
Yep except I don't fall asleep easily and I get up at that time in the winter as well, mainly down to my alarm going off for workI don’t sleep as well in the Summer, i seem to fall asleep okay but every morning i seem to wake at around 5am, anyone else?

All its taken is an increase of 4c and actual sunshine to go from a typical bland, cool summer to what I consider ideal. Give me 24c and sunny all day everyday.![]()
