Quite a bit of distance between Stoke and Cornwall sadly. :p

The cloud cover and rain has been all too common here this year. So much so that I'm banking on being made to take vitamin d tablets by December. Which has happened 3 times in the last 5 years now due to the lack of sun/summer. :(

I'm in New York (midtown manhattan)... Since Thursday 18th July.

I kid you not the heat has a feels like temp of 42c even though its about 38c but the killer thing is the sheer humidity - the roads are melting, air con units are breaking down all over the shop as well as contributing to the heat. It is insane.

My prior trips to Rome and the Maldives have had equally high temps but not this humidity. I recall my wife and I doing a mad 6hr walk of Rome that I had planned whilst the temps were in the high 30s. We can barely manage 1hr in NY. Even the locals are struggling hugely.

My home AC is running flat out and can't keep the upstairs below 82F (28C) today.

Thankfully things return to normal next week.

That is great to know. I've had a hell of a day with my coach breaking down on highway 95 nexto Kane Stadium after returning from Woodbury Common. Bring stuck on an elevated freeway in the searing heat was a colossal nightmare for everyone. Took some 2.5 hrs for a replacement coach to arrive.

Could be hitting 37 of 38 in the east on Thursday. That will be uncomfortable for me on the tube in a suit...

The models look like they are being a touch conservative - the SE could see quite some heat building up over the next week though the rest of the country looks like it will see less in the way of extremes.

It's been quite a nice summer here in South Wales, not many scorchers so far but a general warm and dry spell has persisted for quite a long time with only brief light showers occasionally. Given it's not unusual to get non stop rain seemingly all summer it has been a pleasant change. Got the fast set pool out for the kids for the next few days, will certainly be using it to cool off myself and the gazebo up for a bit of shade. A day or two of high 20's/low 30's is ok but my house has big stone walls so prolonged heat and strong sun can soak right in to the stonework and make the house too uncomfortable at night.

I don’t sleep as well in the Summer, i seem to fall asleep okay but every morning i seem to wake at around 5am, anyone else?
Yep except I don't fall asleep easily and I get up at that time in the winter as well, mainly down to my alarm going off for work :o :D

20 degrees and very muggy when I got in the car at around 6am, luckily the office air con is pretty good or I'd be a very sweaty fat bloke right now.

Just walked to the precinct and back in SO18, it felt ridiculously humid out there* and supposedly "only" 23C, the idea of popping out even for a gentle cycle ride is firmly on hold... And the Met Office predicts 29/25/28C maximums over the next three days. :(

* not helped by having a rucksack of shopping on my back.

All its taken is an increase of 4c and actual sunshine to go from a typical bland, cool summer to what I consider ideal. Give me 24c and sunny all day everyday.

Not so fun when it is around 24+C and humid/close though :( give me a nice dry 24-26C.
