Higher powered Competizione is the one to go for surely with the LSD?
Not necessarily as can easily install the Quaife LSD like I did on mine.

I thought the idea of the Clio was to keep it long term as an investment?then to move the Clio on as well

If you are looking at the base spec the face-lift is definitely worth it - I think they are 66 plate onwards, with some 16 plates also having the face lift.
These will have 145 as standard, new spec rear lights and the infotainment screen/bluetooth.
Tune4Performance is the place to go for remaps.
There are plenty of Abarth Groups on facebook which are very active.
I have an 18 plate 145 IHI - in hindsight I wish I had gone for a 180 Comp. I'm currently looking to change to a new Esseesse.
Edit - If you are local to Knutsford then Mangoletsi have got a nice selection of used Abarths in at the moment.
Just back from there, had a go in this:

180 Competizone up at 15.2k with 12k miles extras seem to have NAV and rear sensors, not pulled trigger as seems a few for sale around this money including one with the nicer black OZ style multi spoke wheels and yellow callipers but it was nice to drive.
As it’s an 18 is it Koni’s all round or do all year Competizone have 18’s all round?
It did not have performance pack, do they still have a diff as there was a TTE button on dash but when pushing on it felt like it was dabbing brakes to under rotate an inside wheel so electronic diff? Though this was more pronounced on the standard 145 Abarth did not push this 180 as much as had sales guy with me the 145 I just got given the keys so disappeared for an hour with that one and took it back after emptying the tank lol.
What kind of mpg do owners get on a long run and then average normal driving, I assume sport is sharper throttle response, more power and forming up suspension?
How does one tell if car has Beats audio, it had the LCD dash screen and stereo seemed ok but no sign of a sub in boot or anything....
driving 33 mpg on a run 45/50. Sport button sharpens throttle...
Beats - Look at the A pillar speaker, does it have a beats badge under it.
Comp has KONIS all round and they won't all be 18's. Depends on what's been optioned.
Town driving 33 mpg on a run 45/50. Sport button sharpens throttle response and changes instrument display, but has no effect on suspension.
Thanks beats quite important as want a half decent radio as Ferrari one is a bit meh but it’s forgiven for sounding awesome. Though the Abarth for a 4 pot sounds rather fruity!
Do we know from what year Comps got Koni’s all round do they make much of a difference?
I mean is there gonna be a big noticeable difference in the drive, handling and comfort say between a 2013 Comp VS a 2018 Comp apart from the 7-8k price difference, of course yellow is not available in earlier years.
So can these really hit around 45mpg on a run at around say 75-80mph or is that on a run doing like 60mph? As that’s not a whole lot worse than say the 1.2 but I suppose with the 1.2 your foot is always flat as it can’t pull the skin of a rice pudding.

Amongst owners there isnt much love for the beats systems so don't let cars without them put you off - You can get a decent set of Focal's for the front doors for £70-90.
The facelift cars are more refined in terms of looks and the infotainment etc - I would be keen to go for a facelift for sure. They also have a different front bumper, rear lights and slight interior changes.
You won't really see 45mpg on a long run - It's very rare to get anywhere near those figures. I see mid to low 30's on mine.
Before you buy join the Abarth groups on Facebook and ask about the history of the car you are looking at - most owners are in the groups and its a nice community.
And the first thing I would do is some form of security - I went for the Pandora Light Pro alarm system and many owners also use steering wheel locks. Unfortunately they are very prone to being stolen.
What year did this important facelift happen, was it 2016 or earlier?
Shame to hear they are prone to theft, but the first dealership did say they block them in with lesser cars to prevent that, so guess they must get stolen from car lots often, first dealership was best as they just handed me the keys and said bring it back later, that was a 2016 Abarth 145PS, well i think it was a 145PS version, but it did not have an LCD infotainment but the regular old school CD player type, so maybe this car was actually a 135PS version?
The one yesterday was a 180 Comp, 18 plate. I've also driven a 15 plate 1.2, very comfy, but also slow, I also tried a 0.9 twinair 85PS which had a bit more go than the 1.2 and sounded cool/funny but the engine also felt a bit rougher and only being 2cyl it was not happy with 2nd gear pulling away.

Yes 66 plate onward officially - but some 16 plates also.
They are stolen a lot then stripped with parts all over ebay.
If it had a cd player then it would have been a 135PS. LCD screen is facelift onwards.
Gotcha, so it was probably a 135PS then, must admit it drove real nice and felt pretty rapid. The 180 Comp felt faster for sure, and we were carrying another 100kg in that car (3 up) as sales guy was in with us and he was not a small guy, but very helpful, so that would have a detrimental effect, plus from my research an 18 Comp probably weighs more than a 16 plate Abarth 135PS.
I am seeing Performance Pack is rare option, few cars with it used seem to carry a premium of 2-3k, if Beats aint worth it then can forget that, so I suppose only real advantage of performance pack is that diff, which for 1k can be done after market.
From looking do all the 66 plate onwards have Garrett turbo's or are those only on the Comp from 66 onwards, as I believe that means if I ever decide to play the garrett equipped car will tune to around 250HP with intercooler and filter?
Kind of want yellow with black to match ferrari, or go opposite and get black with yellow or grey with yellow.![]()
Performance Pack also has the Carbon Backed Sabelts.
The 145 595 and the Trofeo (160) have IHI Turbos - and the Turismo (165) and the Comp (180) have Garrett turbos.
There are various shades of the yellow as well - Campovolo Grey with Red Stripes is the best colour combo IMO. Mine is Podium Blue - but dirty within seconds of being cleaned.
All 16 onwards comps should have alloy fuel filler cap, alloy oil cap, alloy pedals and BMC air filter. Check these are on the car as they are dealer fit at PDI and many dealers didnt fit them to the cars.
