Intel admits it won't catch up with AMD's 7nm chips until 2021

Didn't notice it was the non K, oops.

Forget that I said anything then, the 9900K... do want!

As an all rounder, bar price, it can barely be touched.

As an all rounder its ok. It does get soundly beaten in everything bar gaming by a chip that costs broadly the same so I would say "barely be touched" is a massive stretch - That's not saying at all that it is bad, just that as a gaming chip that sentence would be correct but as an all rounder... meh

Sorry but in the IT sphere, there aren't that many things to be excited about. Years ago, we should have moved to 100% Ultra HD usage everywhere, driven by more powerful hardware.
Do you know how many people have problems with their eyes because of the low-quality monitors they sit in front?

Obviously not a sphere you are familiar with then.

So awesome that an SSD now features in the "cheapest build". Posting to point out that you chose a £22 ssd for one and a £20 one for the other. Also ridiculous how cheap ssds have become over the last few years.

are either of these system good value though? allways good to see the cheapest new pc you can build though. But i do allways wonder if the value is there. going so low powered 2 core and 2 core 4 thread intel/amd spending extra on cpu will allways net much better performance. im talking going to the ryzen 3200g and 3400g and i3 cpu about double the priice of the cpu you have in the builds. i allways think you can go too cheap on pc parts and exp laptops. then on intel with proberly a new motherrboard coming out for next range of cpu's on amd am4 wont last much longer either. (amd stated suport till 2020 But still could add a new socket in 2020 also) and on laptops well most if not all are not upgradable in any meaningful way (excluding 3-5k laptops there)

going cheap is not allways the best idea But adding a ssd in to cheap systems goes to show how comon place and cheap they are now. But i do find it funny though that intel can include a cpu cooler into a 56 pound cpu but dont include one for there much higher chips :)

No, as an all-rounder it is battered into submission by the 3900X for the same money, or the 3700X for £100 less. As the ultimate gaming chip for ultra-high frame rates then yes it can't be touched.

The "performance per pound spent" graph always rises slowly to a peak then drops pretty quickly after that.

I thought he was a victim of some security breaches and is complaining to fix them?
Sounds like some theoretical flaws found in laboratory conditions.

Or very real flaws that effect enterprise clients who run big virtual estates.. so yea some theoretical flaws that we (as admins and managers) are expected to do something about. Ask any cloud provider about the effect on their business if you want to know how "real" these issues are.
