that's a reasonably hard reference point, for me ... which begs a general question on pre-planning any test drive routes.Doesn't feel much harsher than what my E90 on 19" and msport suspension felt like.

I will double check but I am sure there should be a gel piece between the sensor and windscreen itself. Mine does not have this which I think may be the issue.
Can you confirm if your windscreen says lexus in the bottom right corner?
i won't be able to for a couple of days now. the weather is atrocious and i won't be using the car tomorrow so possibly Wednesday before i can have a look.
Well the windscreen has been replaced on mine. Something which I wasn't made aware of at the time of sale, and to be honest I didn't pay attention to as I was buying approved used.
Lexus did say they fixed the "sensor" as it was loose, and it should work fine on the auto setting. Well, it was raining that day, and lo and behold it didn't work. I then questioned them that their "150" point check must have been a very quick one.
I explained that there should be a gel piece between the sensor and screen and how it can be overlooked is beyond me. So it's booked in for that and possibly a new sensor to rectify the issue. A bit annoying but the service has somewhat been decent.
However, I am enjoying the car. I think it does everything really well and it's pretty much what I expected.

mine is original windscreen.
the sensor on these things is HUGE. unsure if non OEM sensor would be a lot smaller and be an issue. i've never seen a sensor this big before.
The sensor on a CT200h screen isn't massive at all.
The sensor itself doesn't get changed during a windscreen replacement either.
It's unclipped from the bracket, removed and refitted to the new screen
there is a huge black part of the windscreen it fits into the middle of. is that not all part of the sensors?
It houses multiple functions.
There's the mirror fixing bracket, an aerial connection and the rain sensor.
The rain sensor itself is about an inch and a half wide by 3 inches tall.

Gel piece between sensor and windscreen? Does this come with an aftermarket screen or is it replaced/reused?
Replaced or reused.
Generally reused as the Toyota/Lexus ones peel away without tearing
I've been looking at these now as I would like an automatic with good mpg, a hybrid would suit my usual driving which is mostly waiting at traffic lights, queuing for roundabouts and following slow people. Do you think getting a 2011/12 one would be good idea? I'd look to pay around 8k for a nice Premier spec, judging by the Prius the electrical bits should last a while. Won't get much trade in on my battered 2005 Avensis.
I know they aren't quick but are they horribly slow?
