Spec me a Hybrid.

I will double check but I am sure there should be a gel piece between the sensor and windscreen itself. Mine does not have this which I think may be the issue.

Can you confirm if your windscreen says lexus in the bottom right corner?

i won't be able to for a couple of days now. the weather is atrocious and i won't be using the car tomorrow so possibly Wednesday before i can have a look.

Well the windscreen has been replaced on mine. Something which I wasn't made aware of at the time of sale, and to be honest I didn't pay attention to as I was buying approved used.

Lexus did say they fixed the "sensor" as it was loose, and it should work fine on the auto setting. Well, it was raining that day, and lo and behold it didn't work. I then questioned them that their "150" point check must have been a very quick one.

I explained that there should be a gel piece between the sensor and screen and how it can be overlooked is beyond me. So it's booked in for that and possibly a new sensor to rectify the issue. A bit annoying but the service has somewhat been decent.

However, I am enjoying the car. I think it does everything really well and it's pretty much what I expected.

Sorry I've not had a chance to look at mine but I'll be going for a drive in ten minutes will let you know.

I was at a party yesterday and I had to do something and mate their said he had never seen the inside. So he sat down in the drivers seat and was amazed by how fully loaded it was.

I showed him the sound system, all the speakers and the subwoofer in the boot. The level of quality. The joystick for the entertainment system. He was impressed.

The only thing I can fault on it is the egr valve and big alloys / lowered suspension. The state of the roads around here is shocking so as much as I would replace it with another. The roads won't allow me to. It's a great city car.

mine is original windscreen.

the sensor on these things is HUGE. unsure if non OEM sensor would be a lot smaller and be an issue. i've never seen a sensor this big before.

The sensor on a CT200h screen isn't massive at all.

The sensor itself doesn't get changed during a windscreen replacement either.

It's unclipped from the bracket, removed and refitted to the new screen

there is a huge black part of the windscreen it fits into the middle of. is that not all part of the sensors?

It houses multiple functions.

There's the mirror fixing bracket, an aerial connection and the rain sensor.

The rain sensor itself is about an inch and a half wide by 3 inches tall.

Gel piece between sensor and windscreen? Does this come with an aftermarket screen or is it replaced/reused?

I've been looking at these now as I would like an automatic with good mpg, a hybrid would suit my usual driving which is mostly waiting at traffic lights, queuing for roundabouts and following slow people. Do you think getting a 2011/12 one would be good idea? I'd look to pay around 8k for a nice Premier spec, judging by the Prius the electrical bits should last a while. Won't get much trade in on my battered 2005 Avensis.

I know they aren't quick but are they horribly slow?

New Corolla is nice, but don't think is within your budget.
The Lexus CT is far from comfortable. Does looks nicer than many other hybrids, but I personally wouldn't buy one.
CH-R is nice, again, not sure if within your budget.

they are fast in sports mode

Yes, they are slow. Heavy car and only 134hp and that's even with using the electric motor to boost power. No tuning options either.

Don't expect a hot hatch, or even a warm hatch. A Suzuki Swift sport will eat it for breakfast. It's an eco car :)

Well my Avensis is supposed to be 130hp which I would say is ample, just don't like being in cars that can't negotiate sliproads. Like I say I'm gonna be in moving queues most of the time anyway. Might look at one this weekend.

I've had a variety of cars over the years. I pretty much came from high revving 220hp saloon, and before that a close to 400hp/560lbft of torque diesel.

This car is built mainly for economy, it is also a city car which is built well and has most mod cons you could ask for.

It isn't fast, don't expect it to be. Sport mode helps with slip roads but don't slam the accelerator. It's much better progressive.

Buy the car in the sense of it not costing much to run. You cant have it all. If you want economy and performance a diesel would be a better bet, but not forgetting the reliability aspects that come with them.

Try before you buy, that is my advice. The ride isnt bad, I don't understand why people slate it. I haven't found it to be as harsh or crashy as they have stated. But I think that maybe due to the fact that the suspension was revised in 2015, so I was told.

They're good cars, and that's me being honest. I do wish the boot was bigger. But aside from that I can't really moan much about the car if at all.

Oh, yeah, it's the mpg and general low running costs I'm after, I've got a bike in the garage for turbo mode. If a Honda Jazz looked a bit nicer I'd get one of those.
