The "Top Gear", Season 24/25/26 thread

Enjoyed that, on the whole probably more so than the recent TGT special. Both followed an old and predictable formula, but at the end of the day, both featured some stunning scenery and made me want to retrace their routes some day in my life.

Personally finding Top Gear much more entertaining than the Grand Tour, whilst I know its all scripted it comes across a lot more relaxed and natural.

Jesus Christ, some of those overtakes made the chaos I witnessed on Indian roads seem perfectly normal.

The thing is when everybody drives like that they all know what they're doing.
One of the most amazing things that I witnessed which puts my statement into practice was a 6 laned road outside an hotel within a few hundred yards from the Pyramids.
I was talking to our Guide about crossing the road and he said "Watch this" - he stepped off the pavement and walked in a straight line across the 6 lanes and was avoided by all of the heavy traffic and then returned.
He said if he has stopped for a split second a motorist would misjudge his movements and he'd get run over.
After that every country I went to I'd sit on coaches working out the anti crashing algorithms :)

In Bangladesh some buses are privately owned by individuals, so to ensure they get as many pickups as possible, they race each other to the next stop. I saw 3 buses racing side by side round a bend on a two lane road (one going either direction). Luckily no one was coming round the other way else it would have been carnage.

Fairly reasonable, I thought. I see the BBC has now signed off a measure of swearing being allowed in TG, presumably to compete with TGT.

I enjoyed it overall, stunning scenery, cringeworthy banter but I loved how Chris Harris was truly emotional about his Peugeot dying, and Flintoff showed geniune empathy. Bugger driving on those roads though!

Turned it off half-way through - some good stuff but too many bits seemed too forced. Might try and finish it up at some point probably with some liberal use of skipping ahead.

Wouldn't be a very interesting challenge if they took 4x4s and just did it without issue, would it..

I enjoyed it, the specials are always an entertaining watch.
