US kills Iran's General Soleimani

You mean oppressively ruled by a US backed dictator? That said it was undoubtedly better even then, but still this is another country half way around the world, what right does the US have?

Self defence, apparently. Like a lot of international politics, it's as murky as hell and most people are mostly kept in the dark. As for the past, that's a legacy of even earlier conflict dating back at least as far as the creation of Islam and the immediate holy war against everyone else in general and Christianity in particular. Probably much further back than that. There has been conflict in the area for all of recorded history, with the usual mix of religion and power and money and revenge driving most of it. Then there was Sikes and Picot, people who definitely made things worse in a very long term way. Or, more accurately, were the frontmen for that. It wasn't purely their idea.

Some say they shifted them over the border in to Iran.

The ones you claimed in the past never existed?

From old Brexit thread that's now closed so won't let me quote properly

Not for the middle east. Where Blair is responsible for 100,000s of deaths based on false intelligence.

He also had all his money off-shore while him (and Brown) went to town on the UK's economy. Which has never fully recovered.

No one trusts Blair, because they have good reason not to.

Looks like Tony "the peace envoy" Blair is trying to make a come back.

Did he ever find his WMDs?

A bit rich for him to comment on others telling lies when his lies got 100000s killed. We are still seeing the fallout of it 15 years later.

I did, in the post you quoted.

However I'll try another far more longer winded way - In this thread there are various people, who have no clue about how a military operation is actually carried out, saying very silly things about how this one was done.

It's the "internet expert" problem where those who have no actual experience are saying that the IRL experts are doing it wrong and they should have done XXXXXX instead. It's not a new problem, it's been around since the first man gave an opinion on something, but it's still fun for me* to see some of the seriously WTF stuff being said about "they should have done this......" etc.

Much of the time, some exceptions aside, these people are just interested in what is going on and not trying to pass themselves off as experts as you incorrectly see it. If it bothers you so much add something constructive to set people right rather than sniping.

Yes but have you got gold camo on all guns? That makes you a proper military genius don’t you know.

I’ve actually heard that the WWIII callup is being done on modern warfare KD ratio.

The cause/effect game fascinates me. I mean, generally, all one needs to do in order to lay the "cause" at the "other side's" feet is pick a different spot on the time line. Just pick a side, and then pick a spot on the time line that suits you.

Are you talking about the procedure or the reasons behind it?

But your right most of us have not seen these things first hand but it's more a debate on the principles of it. Was it justified etc.

Wait, they’ve conducted another strike? They really are determined to stick the knife in.

Nothing confirmed but seems likely - as before rumoured Trump basically told them to do all of them when presented with multiple graded response plans. ( His son's deleted tweet tends to back that up as well).

I wonder if our threat level will be raised to severe?

It was only recently dropped to substantial.

Made me laugh when Corbyn sent his twitter message moaning about it and someone replied with a 14% off code for Interflora :D
