Overwatch

Well congrats for putting up with it, I'm done with solo queue now I think. I have a group (a full 6) I play with once or twice a week and the quality of those games is absolutely incredible, then on the odd day where others aren't around and I fancy a game or two it is consistently awful and just not worth the time anymore

Are you still playing tank?

tbh tank in solo que is my least favourite.
 
Whatever you guys are experiencing, I'm sure solo tank in silver is even worse! However, having learnt the hard way that lack of healing makes solo q tank so painful, I've been playing a lot more support and having much better success... there are so many DPS healers in silver that giving your team a support that focuses on healing results in a good win rate.

On a different topic, are you guys seeing a big increase in Dva picks? I'm getting very frustrated by the amount of Dva + Hog combos lately, though I assume higher ranks are more aware that this is a terrible combination.

Not really. This kind of stupidity plagues 3000-2500SR too. See also: Genji playing into Monkey, Mei, Brig. Stevie Wonder on Ashe/Widow and the smurf Doomfist destroying your back line.

Yep have always been a tank main... I think I'm pretty good and improving (when playing with my team) but as above solo queue is absolutely terrible and it's no wonder the amount of players willing to play tank is at an all time low (and the reason the queues are so bad for the other ranks)

Totally this. I keep an account for solo and one for groups now. Tanking is that bad.
 
Random question but what GPU would be the minimum to get to run OW at 144hz/1080p, on low/medium settings & 100% scaling?

I'm thinking of selling my 2080 and downgrading to the cheapest GPU to run OW and then buy a 3000 series.

For reference the 2080 is running at 40 degrees, 40% fans and 40% GPU usage.

You wouldn't need much at all.

Maybe a second hand 280x or something similar for under £50 would be enough if you turned some stuff down.

Really? I was thinking something like a 1660 Super for £200.

I'll have to test when I'm home but I think you roughly get 50%-75% more FPS when switching all the settings from ultra or whatever the highest is to low/medium.

What GPU do you have?

Overwatch is probably the easiest game out there to run.

Some old benchmarks here, it doesn't take much to run ultra 144fps 1080p and you are saying low/medium.

I have a gtx 1080 and run at 1440p mainly ultra and average around 170fps and mins around 130fps.

I only have i5 8400 right now which is probably holding me back a bit.

Thanks for that link. Yeah it is incredibly well optimized.

8400 is still plenty good. I have a 4690k so it is definitely holding me back!

I would rather buy a new GPU just because of warranty.

These are the GPU's under £200, so basically any of these can do the job I need?

570 - £140
580 - £150
1650 - £150
1650 Super - £150
590 - £165
5500 XT - £170

There is plenty of youtube vids with people testing.

I had a quick look at this one

Looks like they running around 250fps 1080p low with the 1650 super.

Damn if that's true then the 1650 is great value, I prefer Nvidia to be honest, so it's down to the 1650 Super & 1660 Super. The 1660 Super is £200 so 30% more than the 1650 Super for on average 17% more performance, so value wise the 1650 Super is better. Zotac does one with 5 years warranty. So that could easily tie me over, then upgrade later down the line to a 3000 series potentially.

Nice one.

I seem to be stuck in the 2600 range, can never ever get close to 3000, I think I am a good player too but too many DPS at this level don't change hero's to counter or work well as a team. Quite frustrating.

Anyone here around my SR level and want to group up perhaps?

My tank is currently around that level.

Cool, just sent you a request mate.

I almost always play tank as DPS queues are far too long. I switch between Zarya & Hog mostly. Would class myself as Zarya main to be fair.

Used to play Mcree/Soldier/Tracer a lot before the 2/2/2 change.

Brig is great in this season! If you're good with Rein we'll do pretty good I think!
