**** How old is your Zippo?? ****

About 40 + years old
Like everything else I hoard
It's in a box in the cupboard some
Where lol
Think it's got uss enterprise on it
The aircraft carrier that is
Nothing to do with star trek lol

I had a vintage 1940s one when I was doing Living History. Only cost about $30. Still got the 1941 replica, though, along with a Tiger Stripe camo one I bought in the US around 1984.
Had a nice plain crackle black one with a red & white ZIPPO logo, but that's gone walkies.

Zippos are like Maglites to me, in that they were the thing to have in the 80s and 90s, but are now very old and outdated tech. I tote a 3-jet gas lighter and a 1,000lm LED torch these days.

What do you think of it? Worthwhile?

Definitely, although I did get mine for half of what they go for on Amazon currently. With decent fuel they do last, although can go through spells of stupid hot to just warm so inconsistent. Still way better than anything else I've used and If I were planning to be out in the cold and using my hands a lot I would certainly get another so I can one in each pocket.

I have a Zippo and hand warmer - hand warmer was quite good - it lasted for the three hours it took me to do a clay shoot.

Both are less than ten years old and I haven't smoked for nearly 50 yrs.

My sister bought me one when I was at school, used it all through school, college, uni and my first few years of work then one day I left it in my trousers pocket which I threw on the floor and then shuffled my chair leg back on top of it - game over, unfixable :( would have been nearly 20 years old by now if I hadn't. Never replaced it as I have my st Dupont which is a million times better, especially for cigars.

If Hollywood is anything to go by then there must be thousands of these things lying about because people seem to just throw them away in order to start a fire.

If you still have it send it off to them, they might repair it under the lifetime warranty

We've had to go through dads things recently and here it is, like new and boxed!! So 29 years old.

Cool,
That's the first thing I thought when I read the post as well.

I wouldn't have thought they'd repair something damages that badly - the chair leg crushed the whole thing. Either way there's only the smallest possibility I still have it in a box somewhere but most likely i binned it.

My Zippo handwarmer which was delivered today has a date code of D 19 so that's April 2019.
