Well I am 48 hours in with the Ultra and the screen is superb, a game changer actually.
But the battery life is woeful, I took it off charge yesterday morning and put it on my desk, didn’t even use it for for over an hour. When I picked it up to go out it had lost 9% just being sat doing nothing.

I then had a call for 15 minutes, listened to Spotify for around 1 hour and read the news for another 20 mins or so and battery was at 66% by 11:30. I’ll see if it improves over the next few days but there is now way I can live with that. Very disappointing so far.

Remember that it takes a few full charge/discharge cycles for a battery indicator to tune itself in to your configuration. Lies-to-children version: if you use a phone with a 4000mAh battery and then upgrade to a 5000mAh phone, your software will assume that use of 1000mAh is 25% of battery when it should be 20%.

Hey guys does anyone know how to turn the brightness up of the always on display i have noticed it is a lot dimmer on my ultra than it is on my note 9 ?
If you double tap the screen whilst AOD is on it should bring up a brightness control and a settings cog. Tap on the date or clock area.

Bought a Krussell case from Amazon, adds some nice grip and has a rough texture. Will see how I go as I'm not normally a case guy.

I had the S20+ too, not the ultra. The Quidco offer has also expired, it was only available Friday i believe as i cant see it now on quidco app. I saw the deal in the sun.

Thanks bud :-)

I figured out where I was going wrong. There is "new plan", "upgrade" and "sim free" in very faint text and I missed that last time round. It was sim-free that I needed and it came to £1199. I'll deffo wait for it to drop though, say £800, then will try a combination of Quidco and PayPal credit.

I have somehow already damaged the screen protector that comes with the phone, it has some scuff marks. I'm assuming it's a cheap one that is easily damaged because my S8 didn't get so much as a scratch even after 3 years of use without a protector

Anyone had any problems opening Kodi app? I did the transfer via Smart Switch and I just get a black screen when it tries to open. Even reinstalling it still the same. Maybe a setting needs changing? Worked fine on the old S10+

Got my return pack arrive today from Samsung too.

Not rating the bundled headphones, had heard good things about AKG but not seeing it myself....

Also, When i make a call, theres a short "beep" just as it starts ringing...Wonder what that's a sign of / what it's trying to tell me?

Really enjoying the bigger screen and the camera hole cutout isn't bothering me as much as i thought it might

Beep just means the calls connected. The earbuds are okay but even the biggest tips are too small for me and don't seal well.

4 days in and still terrible battery life on my S20+, i mean really awful. Im on 2hrs 22mins sot and im on 50% battery and i've already topped up at work once (Went from about 55% to 70%) and now back down to 50%. I have all the same apps installed (used smart switch) as my note 9. My note 9 used to easily get 5hrs and still have a bit of juice left without topping up. I saw on reddit a few people ask if people with poor battery life if they used smart switch but with no answer. Seems they were hinting that may be the issue, anyone heard similar? - im thinking of doing a full reset again and seeing if that cures my problem, without using smart switch.

I have amazing battery life, I still had 60% left last night. Admittedly I used it less yesterday but I'm finding a great battery life, much better than my S9 plus. I'm on 78% now. I haven't made any calls today but have send loads of texts and used social media somewhat.

For that reason alone is why i do not use smart switch and always set up each phone as a new one bar for the following. Contacts/messages/emails. other than that its all new, i thenm also re download apps i regularly use thus avoids downloading apps i have tried but never bothered to uninstall.

I also came from a note 9. the battery isn't as good granted but then it takes a while to get the battery and the management sorted. and remember the note series had a few battery optimisations baked into some of the updates. we will be getting some for the s20 range im sure.

EDIT also remember how fast the s20 range now charges back up. a lot faster than previous versions.
