China's 'wet markets' have reopened

**Contreversial opinion alert**
Unless your vegetarian/vegan then you have no place condemning China, this happens throughout the world.
vegan here and agree ,theres a massive amount of evidence of cruelty in this country rspca assured meat is an oxymoron if every there was one ,having said that the filth over there who carry out this need eliminating before we educate the meat eating masses over here
(runs for cover ;))

I'm not a veggie, wife is though. I reckon I will be one day unless significant processes are changed to at least give the animals we eat some kind of decent life before we eat them, it's all terribly wrong whatever Country you are in and yes I'm a hypocrite for having this opinion while still eating meat.
Best case scenario would be lab grown meat on a grand scale :)

I think after the crisis is over we'll be making some serious demands from China, they won't very rich if no one buys from

I ate meat for many decades so im not in much of a position to preach (but i do ha ha ),6 hours in a meat factory in 2014 made me veggie ,dairy and egg industry on youtube made me Vegan ,reversal of some heath problems has kept me dairy free .
think i would do eggs if they were truly freerange (all over the streets around here) and would otherwise go to waste

My controversial reply to this would be that I strongly disagree regarding veggie/vegan's only allowed an opinion, however it does strike me that the West are extremely passionate about dogs as food. I understand it, dogs are our mates, we love dogs and why the hell would anyone want to eat one? Well cows are holy in India, but we find them delicious? Some people love horses yet its a popular meat in many parts of the world. Hell, we give kids guinea pigs as pets, yet they're a delicacy in Peru! I personally like Ducks, but they go very well with hoisin sauce.

Who are we to judge that one animal should or should not be eaten in another country? Our western values don't see dogs as food, but they've been eaten in China for god knows how long, why should we stop them because we like having them as pets?

With that said, the way animals are treated, cooked, stored, these wet markets, sanitation and the countless other issues that China has in it's food chain is a far larger problem than the fact they eat what we call our pets. I wonder if it was a controlled and clean supply chain such as we have over here if people would still be ****** about eating dog meat?

(Posted dog lover who has visited China many many times and has seen the way they deal with meat first hand, it's not pleasant!)

Think this needs reposting, couldn’t agree more with the above. Meat is meat, what we decide is a pet doesn’t necessarily have match other countries in the world. Hygiene etc. As mentioned above is another matter :p

What will happen is what happened last time, it goes criminal.

I pose this quandary, have we ended the trade of drugs in the last 50 years?

Ultimately, demand is the problem and as we learned a century ago, prohibition will never work. Enough threats from the global community might force the CCP's hand, but then if that's true, it's also true that the world would be in a position to just abandon China and that'd bring with it a uniquely dangerous situation, then again we were already in a dangerous position with China anyway.

So I guess we'll see.

"Halal" meat is the worst joke in this country. We put in strict laws about how animals are slaughtered, but then a religious group gets an exception and are allowed to continue killing things in cruel ways. That needs to be stopped.

Just think how many problems would be solved if we could just make china "disappear". Maybe Trump will slip on that big red button one day :p

(Btw not serious but the West will have to persuade China to make changes if they won't do it themselves and they need to do it before they become the top world economy).

What about Kosher though?

Hopefully after this we bring manufacturing home and isolate them. They’ve screwed us all, nearly every time there is an emerging pathogen it comes from there.

Nope, it'll just go to another country with equally bad animal welfare, that's the sort of minimal short-term aggressive virtue-signalling that will satisfy enough people.

The only way to stop it is to institute a zero-trade sanction on companies if a country isn't treating their animals well, though this would immediately kill the economy. Pretending that we're going to start making everything here is a fantasy, it'd take years to get things up and running, with democracies, this is just infeasible to me.

Haha ok I'll bite (with my canine teeth?)
Where do you live? In the wilds of Alaska? What part of the world do you live that requires you to eat meat to stay alive? Lol
And for what it's worth, farmed meat and cruelty go hand in hand so I emplore you to go and "educate yourself" and come back to argue further.

And Molars, from grinding the meat (and nuts etc) once you have torn it with your canines.

Also you appendix which is now smaller as we cook our meat but once was larger for uncooked meat.

We are omnivores FACT.

Cruelty can happen in any farm and any home for that matter to kids or elderly but it shouldn't happen and action will be taken if in UK or USA or any decent countries with basic values, not China so you need the education and stop moving goalposts to suit your BS.

Go back to nibbling on a carrot or something similar shaped. :p
