NVIDIA ‘Ampere’ 8nm Graphics Cards

It's not going to cost 1999! Hell the 2xxx sieres sold poorly, Nvidia knows they over priced it. They won't do the same again. They made more money off Maxwell and off Pascal than off Turing.

But I wouldn't be yelling about how I should be able to have 50% better performance than last gen for half the price, because I don't know what constraints their produced under. I'd just assume they'd failed to deliver something better/cheaper. But so many people here are convinced that they are being victimised. It's weird.

I don't think anyone feels they're being victimised it's more a case of whoaah Nvidia have moved the goal posts. People struggle to understand why this is being done other than to increase profits or margins for Nvidia.
Vociferously protesting seems a little more proactive than meekly sitting back and accepting it but each to their own. Clearly it's OK for Nvidia to charge whatever they like, what I mean by it not being OK is it's not OK for me to buy into overpaying for the performance I want. Being passive in this situation doesn't suit my temperament but I accept it does suit that of others. I've bought and owned Nvidia products on and off for over 20 years and I don't remotely trust anything they do after a few examples of their thoroughly dodgy behaviour therefore I will never give them the benefit of the doubt. If I caught one of my friends stealing from me or lying about something important I care about I'd treat them with the same suspicion and if others were saying that the dishonest friend maybe had reasons to steal from or lie to me I'd question the motives/mentality of those same other people doing the defending.

Yup, Apple mastered it and now they're the most valuable company in the world ;)

nVidia are trying and trying and their market cap is just increasing and increasing (along with profits) so it must work!!!!
 
You realise Gibbo doesn't want these cards to be expensive? They hurt his business. He sells less.
As I previously said, I can assure you Gibbo would much rather sell many more, of a cheaper card. Which also has the benefit of creating more PC gamers, who buy mice, monitors and cases.

Nvidia truly are killing the whole PC gaming scene here, slowly but surely. Just to make a quick buck. Cloud gaming will destroy PC gaming as we know it within 10 years. Look what Netflix did to blockbuster. And everyone laughed at netflix's ambition at the time.

I think most of us know that, it's the fact that every release he'll pop on here to tell us that the cards are selling faster than they ever have done before, despite the massive price increases across the range.

It doesn't make business sense to be completely transparent with your customers, you need to create some elusion of exclusivity and demand.

Just doing his job. He's a salesguy. no one gives a plumber a hard time for unblocking a sink.

I would give a plumber a hard time for trying to charge for or create a job that didn't need doing, just for some extra cash in his pocket.

We're well aware he needs sales, all I'm saying is we don't need to be told white lies after every release. Most of us are savvy to it by now and the majority of people who buy cards from OCUK won't even visit the forum.
