Yes it benefited from a die shrink, its still crap.

And again i say blame the budget they had to work with, making a gpu that performs for 2 different markets probably isn't easy. Vega was basically a compute card that could game, they've now abandoned this type of setup with having more money to work with.

They had the same for Ryzen.

Ok, if Raja did leave and thinks he can do better at Intel them lets see how his Intel GPU's compare.

They didn't have the same for ryzen at all, they basically threw most of the resources they had into building ryzen and the gpu division was left to make the best of what they had. That's basically common knowledge and explains the drip feed of gpu's from AMD over that period (a lot of rebrands and mid to low level stuff). With ryzen and its iterations doing well obviously more of the revenue is now being distributed across the board for new products.

None of this is "common knowledge" we, that includes you and me don't know any of this, all i know is things got a whole lot better in my PC after he left and he presided over one GPU and Marketing disaster to the next.

Again, i await Raja's brilliant Intel GPU's, those GPU's he spent his time at AMD over promising over and over again... lets see how they compare...

Do you think they need help with their marketing? Given the recent Avengers branding, looks like I can help there too. Maybe instead of trying to associate with external brands create a brand icon or mascot. It worked for linux right? Something recognisable, that you can make cartoon cute or vicious depending on your need, preferably small, potent and colourful.... such as a bee!

Then it needs a name. Something easily rememberable, I dunno , Lara? But just in case of tomb raider lawyers getting twitchy we can stick an extra r in the there. So Larra. Yes there we go. A mascot for the new intel GPU's marketing campaign. Larra Bee. Larrabee. Buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

now we can all wait for those Larrabee cards to materialise. But given that it's been 10 years since Larrabee #1 failed to launch maybe we called these Larrabee X. But no one likes the connotations of a cross - that's a bad mark, even though it would reflect the failed launch the first time. But Xenon, has symbol Xe and who doesn't like Xenon right? So Larrabee Xe. See? It's a shoe-in!

Unlike the first time I shan't be holding my breath for something to actually get released, but let's see what happens. And when it doesn't appear, well that Larra Bee mascot will have been bang-on.

"Larra Bee" FFS... you're a funny guy. :D As long as she doesn't look anything like this, she's taken ;)

Seriously? Stock price was in the crapper, company was on the verge of Bankruptcy, 2/3 of the gpu engineers shifted to help work on the new cpu and you think that the resources available were divided up equally? The cpu was by far their main focus, the idea of "polishing" bulldozer was also considered by restructuring it and making it a better performer, it was the cheaper option but in the end they went for a total ground up design which was pretty much make or break for the company.

And i'd love how to know how your PC magically got a "whole lot better" considering the 5700xt isn't all that much faster than Vega 64, many consider it a sidegrade at most. But no doubt you must have seen some magical gains nobody else has just to support your position?

Imagine being so much of a pathetic fanboy that you presume to try to "scapegoat" a former employee to protect the corporation that you're already bending over for..

AMD and Nvidia can both go **** themselves.

This forums baffling at the best of times with people so far up 1 or the others company's figurative ass. Never understood it.

I was picturing more animation like Pixar style, but ok we can work on that theme. I've compiled a shortlist for voting incorporating the anthropomorphic and weapon elements while retaining the bee essence of the marketing proposal. Man intel better pay us for this consultancy gold. Anyway let me know which you think the campaign should lead with for the prototyping and story boards. In the interests of diversity I've kept it gender neutral for either a Larra or Larry Bee!

I never had a Vega64.

So how did your pc magically get better by putting in a 5700xt? What did it replace? Going by the direction of this waffle it would have to be a vega 56 or 64 or something Koduri was involved in (which would also include navi).

I've seen that pricing in various different locations and from different sources too with new Xbox $599 IIRC
If the PS5 is 500 then xbox would soon follow to compete. They aren't going to ignore the PS5 pricing.

That leaves us PC gamers waiting to see how things unfold for GPUs. And price will be more important then performance (as performance is to be expected).
