So, in order to have some "skin in the game" to claim you have a pc that's on par or better then these next gen consoles a GPU purchase isnt enough alone.

-32GB says hi! Because, reasons..you get higher fps. However, if you've been paying attention 32GB is becoming the norm in gaming. It's only exacerbated with nextgen ported games (open world, rt, etc). ;)

-Pcie 4.0 also says hi. Because isnt it what these next gen cards are designed for. Or do you still think pcie 3.0 is good enough because another pc platform is beyond your budget? hAmpering your new card is counterintuitive to your own purchase. Besides they hAmpere themselves already by the limited vram. :D

-850watt plat. 80plus psu or better also says hi. Having a GPU that can consume up to 400watts doesnt leave much to chance now does it? But you are risk taker keep your 650 watt PSU and post back your results in a day or two. If it worked well with your 2060 what could go wrong? :D

-$700 or so for a 3070. Ouch. You did all that upgrading for a bottom-tier next-gen card. Just to claim parity with console? Didn't you have a Turing card before? Oh you thought because it might be slightly faster it was worth it. But didn't realizing that you're only getting last gen performance while paying new gen pricing. Also, you didn't understand that you do need this new gen performance for this new gen of ported games.:eek:

No matter how much of a cheerleader you are I would at least wait to see what RTG offers. But I digress...:D

Alas no, we're just back to mentioning how consoles offer better value and high-budget games, as it's always been. So either:

1) you enjoy both consoles and PC
2) you are pro-console and bash PCs (both NV and AMD) or not, doesn't work to be pro-console and only bash NV. First time?

Playstation + Nintendo + High-end PC (sorry XboX doesn't cut it, it's useless if you have a high-end PC ) has always been the best way to enjoy all games at their best. Exclusives on consoles, multiplats on PC at way higher details / framerates / ultrawide etc. Nothing to discuss really.

Hardly outrageous these days, I have twice that in my machine, but why would you need it to keep up with a console that only has 16GB shared between GPU and CPU?

You have got a Zen 2 system at this point surely? Anyway, so far there's no benchmarks to say what the performance difference would be of having the new cards in PCIe 4 vs 3, we just have the news they support it.

If you're talking about a 3070, as you seem to be below, the rumours are around 220W, so ... you can carry on with that 650W supply most likely.

Strange, I didn't realise the *70 was "bottom tier", must have imagined all those other cards in the range.

Your talking like 32GB of RAM is cheap *double checks RAM prices* Hold up, Why has the price dropped so much in the past few months?:confused: I guess now is the time to buy if people are looking to "future proof":p.

Regarding you orther statement that would be because Windows OS is large than a consoles OS and people generally have apps running in the background. (Yes i know some of you don't but some people do)

Most people are anticipating that future AAA games will utilise the consoles fast SSD, so we may see more transfers happening over the PCIE bus, or developes will just increase the RAM requirements for PC ports. We will have to wait and see.

Yeah i guess he forgot about the 3060. But his point was mainly on the price i assume.

I'm thinking the same thing. If the XBox Series X is anything to go by AMD could easily make a 3080< with a die under 400mm2 and under 250 Watts.
Nice and cheap.... #### chasing the 3090 even tho if rumours are true i think AMD could beat it people are just going to buy the Nvidia card anyway....

But you know if they don't take the performance crown they are not a brand worth considering even if the person in question was never going to buy the Halo product... Silly mentality really.

All I care is that the sub £300 market has a decent improvement. If the new generation mainstream GPUs can't match a GTX1080TI at least,it will be very disappointing,as a GTX1080TI is only around 30% faster at qHD compared to a 5600XT.

Even the 2900XT disaster generation had ATI above 30% IIRC! Plus a few years ago the whole AMD brand was tainted by the FX series. I don't know how RTG,with all the AMD Ryzen goodwill managed to sell even less GPUs.

They didn't get them out in time , and left a large hole filled by RTX supers which is mad, they missed loads of sales because of it.
