I'm waiting to see what AMD are gonna drop. Decided that if AMD drop Big Navi that is pretty much 3080-level AND give it 16GB then I can see the 10GB becoming a little irrelevant quite quickly and will fade into the shadows.

I've said this from the beginning: AMD will not take the overall performance crown. AMD will not beat Nvidia's top-end card. However, I have changed my stance a little in saying this: Nvidia have scored another mindshare victory by releasing the 3090 now. I was thinking that Nvidia were going to hold back the top dog and engage in a little old-school tit for tat.

Nvidia drop a big card (let's say 3080 Ti)
AMD drop a 72 CU big card which takes the crown (let's say 6900XT)
Nvidia drop a bigger card (let's say 3090)
AMD surprise all with a 80 CU monster which takes the crown again (let's say 400W 6950XTX)
Nvidia drop the Titan

That would've given AMD some favourable mindshare in actually being able to trade blows at the top (because clearly nobody cares about anything lower in the stack, in whcih AMD are going to clean sweep).

But alas I don't see the 3090 being beaten. This is possibly why Nvidia have pushed this insane triple-slot, 400W monstrosity out immediately, just to make sure AMD doesn't take any performance wins.

Which is idiotic, actually, because Uncle Leather Jacket could've milked sales big time by actually engaging in a tussle at the top.

I fully expect AMD to clean sweep everything below the top-end though.

The fact that AMD will compete in any kind of way will give them mindshare. IF RDNA2 is more efficient than Nvidia, that will also help dispel the hot and power consuming tag for AMD high

Now combine that with the release of the next generation consoles and Zen3 that will all help out.
