NVIDIA ‘Ampere’ 8nm Graphics Cards

I play GTA V maxed out at 4K with 4x TXAA, and 2 2080 Tis struggle in areas with grass. This means that a single 3090 might also struggle.

I might go with 2 3090s in SLI, so I can almost guarantee a minimum of 60 FPS in all games at 4K.
you would also need to upgrade to PCIe gen 4 as gen 3 X8 will almost certainly be a bottleneck.

:D I would certainly recommend Zen 2 then with an X570 board. Not only for the PCI 4.0 on the GPU but im pretty sure stuff like premiere gets a huge benefit from using faster drives. Such as pci 4.0 nvme drives.. Plus the core/£.

Just my opinion though.

But with Zen 3 not far away I'm wondering whether to wait for that as well.

With the sheer brute force of 2 3090s, I don’t think that using PCIe 3 will have a massive impact. Perhaps 5-10 FPS max? Even a 20/30% improvement over 2 2080 Tis is acceptable to me. In fact, anything that pushes me over 60 FPS at 4K will do.

The ATI x1900 came out before the 8800gtx and the 8800gtx was a beast of a GPU nothing could touch it for ages

I myself went SLI 7800gtx > x1900xt-x > 8800gtx
My bad it was 7800GTX 512mb but the sequence of events regardless of names is real.

Some estimates from other sites point the RTX 3090 to be roughly 30-35% faster than RTX 2080 Ti.
There is no way on Earth RTX 3070 to be on par with GTX 2080 Ti in raster and 100% faster in ray-tracing than RTX 2080 Ti.

And, just like Crysis, utterly unrepresentative of 90% of games.
I've been to Rio de Janiero once. I arrived at night and when I awoke in the morning I looked out the 20th floor hotel window. As I looked down it looked like Crysis I **** you not. That's the first thing that occurred to me.
If a video game is 'that' good its really important in the grand scheme of things.

I hope something does push you over 60FPS 4K and we get DX12 plus SLI support in MSFS2020. I just can't see 60fps 4K all ultra over NYC in MS FS 2020 from 3090SLI. I want to but I can't.

I think you may be cherry-picking the highest prices you can find on the old-card in your example. I just went to the bay that sells used stuff and searched for "1080ti"...found 3 cards under $300 on the first page.

I looked at sold prices of auction style listings, and Im in the UK. £400 +/- £30 was the range on the first couple of pages, last couple of days.
