That's not the point i was making, how would you know if you set your game to 4K (No DLSS) and the driver sets it to 1800P and DLSS upscales it to 4K, you don't know that, its happening at the driver level and as far as your concerned you're at native 4K.
With Nvidia anything is possible really. It's not beyond them if they think they are loosing the performance race.

There is hardly any 2080ti stock left. 2080 super isn't even listed here.

edit:

Although the latter might have been an accident when they put the 3080 and 3090 on.

The problem is not only those - its basically every Nvidia GPU left over £400 has been made pointless by the RTX3070 and RTX3080! The RTX2070 Super and RTX2060 Super will need deep discounts too!

Basically a cheat.

I understood what you said, but I was looking at a worst case scenario, which no doubt DF is testing as Nvidia controlled it. I was basically saying unless something has gone wrong with the 80CU part(unless it does not exist),AMD should be competitive in rasterised performance.

They will beat the 3080

I hope they do,but matching them would still be decent, especially if they have more VRAM.

But I think Nvidia has room for an RTX3080TI anyway.

5700 sales were bad, unless AMD have a disruptive GPU that is faster and cheaper, no one is interested. The Nvidia brand is too strong along with its feature set.

I don't think AMD are going to make an 80 CU GPU.

These are just too hot (and expensive) for my taste:
3070 220W
3080 320W
3090 350W

However, if the 3080 is twice the performance of the 2080, a 215W part for ~50% more power this hopefully bodes well for a similar relative performance boost at the mid-range <150W parts.
Any idea when lower power parts of this generation might surface? Early next year?

Well the XBox One X GPU is 56CU,which could be made into a 56CU GPU. So if that scales properly,it might be around RTX2080TI level or a bit quicker. But,it might be a sub 400MM2 die. That would be an RTX3070 level competitor.

There were consistent rumours of a 500MM2 part. So I think there is an 80CU GPU,which could be a 72CU part,if 10% is fused off for yield purposes, and the difference is made up in higher clockspeeds.

Fact or opinion?

I was out of GPU market due to prices but 650 for me is PREORDER 1st second it comes up. Was expecting 800 quid. Damn NV got me off buying PS5 !!!
5700xtx2 wont cut 3080...
