AMD Navi 23 ‘NVIDIA Killer’ GPU Rumored to Support Hardware Ray Tracing, Coming Next Year

Basically as others said (and I'm starting to believe it), a lot of people here will buy nVidia no matter what AMD do.

Either because they don't care what AMD does, or they would prefer nVidia all things being equal. In fact, AMD would have to be a lot *better* than nVidia at a given price point for many people to give AMD a look.
I've bought AMD / Nvidia 50/50 over the years. I have no brand loyalty. ....actually As a brand I actually prefer AMD. I prefer their ethos and I like Lisa. I even bought shares in them.
But for gaming I will buy what serves me best. I like the 3080. I am going to buy it. I would like nothing better than for AMD to give me an option around that price point. Lets see if they can! (But Im not waiting forever).

How do you know what serves you best if you're not going to see what the other company has to offer? :p

"I like the 3080. I am going to buy it."

You've made up your mind, the rest is waffle :p Enjoy your 3080, but don't talk about "giving AMD a chance" or "buying what is best" when you're only got eyes for Jensen :p

AMD DO NOT HAVE NEW CARDS OUT YET.

I can buy a 3080 on the 17th. I CANNOT buy Navi 2 then.

Comprende?

SO WAIT. Comprende? All this "I buy what's best, I like AMD, but I'm not going to wait" is starting to sound like the GPU equivalent of "I'm not racist, but...". it's deluded hypocrisy.

TBH everything points to that Big Navi should be 3080 or above performance at least without RT.

About 2 x 5700XT sized chip + the architectural upgrades + around 20% more clock speeds.

I'm certainly happy i skipped the NV2000 series, but i will hold out until i see Navi to choose what to buy

It's not ******* difficult!

I need a new GPU like NOW. MSFS is crud on my 1080.
Nvidia just released a card that perfectly fits my budget and performance needs in the 3080.

Of course I am happy to look at AMD. WHERE ARE THEY!?!?

Do you understand?? If AMD say that cards are coming in the next few weeks / month or so. I will happily hold off. But so far. NOT HAPPENED.

Take your meds, Princess Stampy Feet. Go buy a 3080 the second it's available if you have zero self control and 100% need a card now. just don't delude yourself and post your prattle about being fickle. It's boring.

Well I am going Nvidia this time around, had many AMD cards lately and I have a 4K G-Sync monitor which I want to make use of. That said, I still genuinely want to see AMD do well. It is in the interest of us all. Oh and I am not staying that because it means I can then buy cheaper Nvidia cards.

My next monitor will be both Freesync and g-compatible so I will just buy whoever offers best price for performance or features I want then. Not that having a g-sync panal has stopped me buying AMD cards completely. Me having a RX 580 right now annoys JediFragger for example. Lol

Has somebody threatened to kill you if you don't buy a new card on the 17th? Was it the leather jacket man? It's okay, you can tell us.
There's nothing wrong with him buying a 3080 and I'm sure we all agree.

It's just the "I prefer AMD" spiel which rings hollow.

In the history of GPUs someone has always launched first. Sometimes it's nV, sometimes it's AMD.

But you can't say, "I always buy what's best (vfm, etc)" if you don't wait to see what both companies are offering :p

Its a trade off between risk of something better coming along and supply availability on the 3080s.

We could hold off buying a 3080, then they go out of stock or up in price, and AMD don't come with anything good or have delays.

All AMD need to do to make people wait a little bit longer is to release some info. If they don't then that is on them.

Which is classic marketing. Limit supply artificially to make it sound like you need to get it now,and get tons of people pre-ordering meaning companies can pay for production beforehand, etc. People see "out of stock" and think EVERYONE is buying one,so panic and pre-order too,to keep up. It also means ASP increases.

This is what Apple and Samsung do for the phones - make people panic and stand in lines overnight scared they can't get the phone. Wait a month or two,and you get the phone cheaper, with freebies from the comfort of your own home.

Yet,it does not work at all for the commercial customers, who get enough of the products beforehand at an agreed price.

I don't think there's any worry at all about 3080 stock... Or prices to be fair, with all the third party vendors having announced their cards and prices - would have to be something catastrophic for all to hike their prices :p
