NVIDIA ‘Ampere’ 8nm Graphics Cards

I think a lot of people will be in the same boat, the market price for these older cards may well drop below what some are prepared to sell them for, at the end of the day they are still great cards, just not as fast as the newer ones.

They're probably worth around £400-£500 right now but yes, if and when the full reviews are out and confirm the 3070 is the same speed or faster, then they'll drop right back to around £300 as simply not worth any more than that for a used card, potentially without warranty.

My 1080Ti of course will be worth about £3.75 at that point :)

If I had a 1080ti, I'd probably be holding on for the next gen. Still a very capable card.

To be honest, my 1070 is still reasonable. Just starting to show its age on 1440p ultra wide with high settings.

I just can't see AMD coming up with something competitive in the gpu market unfortunately :(

That said, I thought the same with the cpu market and I was very wrong there, so you never know...
Clearly AMD can come out with something competitive in the 3080 or below tiers, there is no logical reason to think otherwise. The 5700XT was competing well above its price bracket. However, it's unlikely AMD will compete near the 3090.

Not at 4k (or even 2k) in modern games with RT enabled, it isn't. The Ampere series are now finally a significant jump over Pascal.

See my comment above.

It'll be fine most of the time but, if you get a scammer who claims your item turned up damaged or non-functional or whatever, they'll raise a dispute and the bay will instantly side with them and not even listen to your side of the story. They'll even take the money back from you via Paypal and leave you without the money or the product.

This is particularly dangerous with graphics cards right now because buyers may suddenly realise they've paid over the odds and find a reason to return the card, even deliberately breaking it.

It's just not worth the risk.
Interesting so all the people gloating about how they sold their 2080 ti's before the announcement of the new cards might be in for a nasty shock.

Yeah I run at 3440x1440 so a bit above 1440p but not 4K.

The 1080Ti still does a sterling job to be fair, averaging around 90-100fps in most things with a bit of the eye candy turned down.

My plan is to try to grab a 3080 FE card at launch as £649 for about 80% more performance is too good a deal to pass up. I'll decide whether to flog the 1080Ti or keep/repurpose it later.

If I miss out on an FE card then I'll likely sit tight for a while and let the dust settle on AIB cards.

Agree Richdog, the 5700XT can already handle 1440p so even something only +50% better than it will be useful for people having them displays. If the cost is low and game bundle, hard to grumble tbh.

Very good point

Right, whats the go to card for water cooling then? I am thinking Asus Tuf 3090. Was going to go Zotac but had some bad luck with them recently. Probably not representative of their quality though, which I hear is good. From what I can tell, based on price on the store, they all seem to be the dual 8 pin (reference probably) card up until the MSI trio. I'd get the EVGA but I remember them always taking ages to get stock in. Then again, they all took a while last time.

I think we are waiting for a shift back to sensible prices unless there is a shortage of units in which case we are all doomed! :)

I've got a 1080 and its pretty decent so a ti @ 200 would be awesome. :)

I'd certainly be tempted to bag one at that price. I'd guess it'd be around 50% faster than my 1070. Will keep an eye on the MM :) Would probably get £100 for my card, so a reasonably cheap upgrade.

If nothing comes up I'll just go 3070.

I am just waiting to see which boards are true reference boards. I was once caught out with a MSI board which I didnt realise was bespoke and there was never a waterblock built for it.

I can imagine the there will ebe the highest number of Ebay claimbacks ever.
Bloke on Youtube called Bang4buck gamer and he was really rubbing it in in his latest video saying if you have a 2080ti and have not moved it on yet you must feel like killing yourself because you have lost 300 to 400 quid he said you should have been smarter and moved it on sooner he sounds like a right arrogant **** i hope he gets a chargeback.
