AMD Navi 23 ‘NVIDIA Killer’ GPU Rumored to Support Hardware Ray Tracing, Coming Next Year

The test is simple, if you remove your hand from the F5 key you die....

Network latency is the mind killer. Network latency is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my network's latency. I will permit it to pass over my ISP and through my router. And when it has gone past I will turn my inner eye to see in-stock card models. Where the network latency has gone there will be nothing. Only a brand spanking new GPU will remain.

WHy? Are AMD only planning on selling their cards for 5 minutes and you're permanently locked to Nvidia if you buy one of their cards, never to see Red ever again?

Yes, we all want the details, yes AMD suck at marketing and they really should say something a bit more substantial, but the furor over all this "silence" and Twitter ramblings is just ridiculously overblown, in no way as apocalyptic as some are making out amd frankly verging on childish impatience and entitlement.

We're itching to spend our hard earned beer vouchers out her mane!.

Come on AMD, give us something, I have remortgaged my wendyhouse just for this.

you go on twitter and say that and see the fanboys come out of the woodwork claiming you're a nvidia shill. some people really do think amd can do no wrong what so ever.

hell just look at hardware unboxed latets video on the radeon 7 and how its aged. some people just wont accept it.

I accept AMD are imperfect. There releases have mostly been meh. I have only tolerated the last few gens as I have been into the mining scene and they do well at it - not just gaming. Isn't that right @Vince :D

Something made by AMD performed better than the top (overclocked) 2080Ti's in the database by a large margin. I'm not inclined to just "Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain."

You aren't understanding. Nobody knows if it's an AMD or a Nvidia Discrete GPU or even if it's a fault with the benchmark. The program is reading the 4800H APU as the unknown AMD GPU. The benchmark had only been released 20 days when this result came out. It was still buggy.

Let me put it another way, the ID that program reports for the "unknown AMD GPU" is the same ID as the 4800H APU that hadn't been released. It has been released since March then and has is been used in laptops. I believe the product ID is actually the exact APU used in an Asus laptop. We know what performance they are.

As someone else said previously, why dick around like that when people are lining up to drop £650 on an RTX card, they would skip AMD for this generation. The time for hyping is over, people need to see AMD's hand or they will miss out. Mind, having said that there is a lot of chatter about the RTX cards being good for mining..... good luck getting one if its true.

Its not just Nvidias cards that are good for mining you know, AMDs cards are too, so when those eventally appear, they'll also be getting bought up by the miners, so good luck in getting a one of those too :p

X box release date has just been announced. Could that be the reason for the cryptic poem? Red =scarlet??

or are we doing GPUs a day after today’s x-box one?

Damn straight - I love my 7 and you can't make me hate it! In some stuff I do it will decimate an rtx Titan... not just by a bit either ;)

So according to my best-case scenario napkin maths, 40 RDNA 2 CUs at 225W is about 15% over the 2080 Ti. So...
  • A direct configuration replacement for the 5700 XT would be slap bang between the 3070 and the 3080. That lends credence to the 16GB 3070 Ti rumour.
  • A 60-64 CU model would go over the 3080 just about.
  • A top-end 72 CU model would have quite a nice clearance over the 3080.
  • The mythic unicorn 80 CU model would possibly get close enough to the 3090 to be noticed.
But like I said, best-case scenario.

Nice to see there is still some love for the VII even though its officially gone now.

I only got one 2 months ago through a really great deal from a fellow forum member. That card has done nothing but impress me since owning it.

Tbh yes, I am hugely excited by all of the NV Vs. AMD stuff going on and really want them to take the fight to each (for our benefit) but I genuinely have no interest in upgrading until this struggles, which at 1440p it does with nothing I play.....well except FS2020 but that murders everything and me and my gammy eyes are happy as muck with 30-40fps at high-end settings tbh :D

Hey, I could have rose tinted glasses but I am happy so....

That's not even close to as good as Nvidia were making out. Nvidia 2080 vs 3080 +80%, reality +50%, vs 2080TI +30%

Defo not "across the board" performance gains. You cant take away that some of the results are VERY impressive and as a generation leap you cant knock it is a move forward.

If I had one, I don't think that I would be throwing my 2080ti at people for £400 before release looking at that though

yep hence I believe the 80% thing bandied around is RT only... at which I can believe for sure, and hence why I'm praying that the reviewers give me proper like for like comparisons i.e. BF5 not ray traced or anything at 4k on a 5700XT v's 2080TI vs 3080... type thing I want raw performance figures, not the RT figures which were poor on 2080ti anyway... I do think if this is correct there's gonna be a lot of disappointed owners if not interested in RT that made a loss on 2080TI knee jerk sales and then they get their shiny new 3080, be a grand down for less than the performance they thought.

Anyhow, until official reviews I treat all of these "leaks" as what they are "leaks" with no real numbers behind them tbh!

I don't want Amd to perform because I like them (I hate their driver support, my gravest mistake was buying a pair of Vega 64 liquid cooled). I want them to perform so that Nvidia doesn't hold back stuff..if Amd was performing, I believe the rtx3000 could have been 75% faster .. Nvidia is just slacking with a minimum viable, 2022 is what 2020 ought to be.. but let's be practical no one's going to wait 2 years.

Well if it is they did a q&a stating otherwise (for 3070 but this presumably applies to the more powerful 3080)

When the slide says RTX 3070 is equal or faster than 2080 Ti, are we talking about traditional rasterization or DLSS/RT workloads? Very important if you could clear it up, since no traditional rasterization benchmarks were shown, only RT/DLSS supporting games.

[Justin Walker] We are talking about both. Games that only support traditional rasterization and games that support RTX (RT+DLSS).

I would take any Nvidia leaks with a grain of salt,as Nvidia can drop the final review drivers literally a few days before launch. Best to wait and see how reviews look.

Goodness, an announcement from AMD and the Dune trailer at 5pm today? I may need to sit down and fan myself.

Dune trailer is at 5PM?? Navi can wait!! :P
